Software Engineer 2 - Data

In particular, the Azure Multimodal Intelligence (MMI) team is driving the development of various cognitive services, including optical character recognition (OCR), document understanding, and related fields in document intelligence.

As part of the team, you will:  

• Design, develop, and deliver high-quality software to enhance the availability, reliability, scalability, latency, security, resiliency, and efficiency of our services.
• Collaborate across teams to share good practices, improve engineering standards, evaluate emerging technologies, and drive adoption of modern data engineering capabilities.
• Demonstrate the ability to learn rapidly, be self-directed, and collaborate effectively with team members.
• Foster a culture of being agile, innovative, team-oriented, customer-focused and data-driven.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
• 2+ years of a proven track record for building and shipping production service
• Experience designing, developing, or supporting data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, data models, or analytical solutions
• Demonstrated ability and effectiveness working in a significant technical problem domain, in the term of plan, design, execution, continuous release and service operation
• The ability to multi-task while balancing short-term and long-term tasks
• Agility in fast paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience on one or more of the following domains:
  • Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL Databases or similar database platforms
  • ETL/ELT environments with Azure Data Factory, SSIS or similar technologies
  • Azure Core Platform with machine learning, storage, networking, access, certificate, and compliance management
• Proven testing/validation, analytics/telemetry and problem-solving skills
• Experience in a DevOps culture, particularly for supporting live site
• Deep passion for customer-centric approaches, design thinking, data analysis, and emerging technologies
