In this software engineering role, you will design and implement distributed systems to make Capital Group’s investment process measurably more efficient and effective. You will design and own services and launch critical features to impact over $2 trillion in assets under management.

• You successfully design and build projects from inception to completion, as well as operate them.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 4+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on data engineering, in at least one modern language such as C#, Python, Java, Go, TypeScript, JavaScript.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent experience
• Developed robust and scalable backend services and APIs.
• Designed, built, and optimized data pipelines to collect, process, and transform data from various sources.
• Designed systems that handle large-scale data processing.
• Strong OO and functional design skills with a grasp of common design patterns.
• Strong understanding of data modeling techniques and experience with relational, graph, and non-relational databases, SQL.
• Experienced with cloud native development.
• Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills, and high emotional intelligence.
• Experienced in working collaboratively within an agile team, including test-driven development.
• Posses a track record of successfully delivering enterprise-grade software into production.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Experience with data lakes, Dremio, dbt, Apache Spark/Iceberg/Arrow is a big plus.
• Experience with full-stack development, particularly in Node.js and Vue.js, is a big plus.
• Experience building and monitoring cloud solutions with AWS.
• Financial services experience is a big plus.

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
