Leidos is seeking a Software Developer to join our high-performing team for a long-term engagement with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). This role will focus on achieving key project objectives and deliverables. You’ll be involved in software development, debugging, and addressing customer queries across multiple products as we modernize applications and migrate to the cloud. The ideal candidate will manage entire projects or processes that span various technical areas, ensuring smooth progress through the full development lifecycle. While this position is fully remote, candidates located in the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area are preferred for occasional in-person collaboration.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborating closely with our customers to tackle complex and unique challenges that affect multiple areas and disciplines.
- Leveraging your expertise to develop innovative solutions, ensuring that we meet project goals and deliver impactful results.
- Developing techniques at pace that are mission focused.
- Utilizing the latest cloud technologies and how they can be applied to complex problems for migration of applications to the cloud.
- Designing technical solutions and providing software development of those solutions using Agile methodology.
- System Testing and verification activities including test generation, execution, and documentation.
- System Integration Activities to include requirements gathering, architecture design, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, documentation, stakeholder communication and training and support.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. However, an equivalent combination of education, certification(s) and relevant experience will be considered.
- At least 8 years of experience as a Java Developer, specializing in Hibernate and demonstrating strong expertise in Oracle Database Administration.
- Java: Proficiency in for both application and embedded code development.
- IDEs and Toolchains: Experience with development tools, integrated development environments (IDEs), and toolchains relevant to development boards.
- Experience of Communication Protocols to interface with peripheral devices.
- Proficiency in coding for embedded systems.
- Unit Testing: Experience in writing and conducting unit tests for code reliability.
- Git: Proficient in using version control systems like Git for code collaboration.
- Professional experience in the design and implementation of complex solutions, ideally both clean-slate projects and updates to legacy code bases.
- Commitment to code correctness and quality assurance through static analysis, code review, automated testing, and continuous integration.
- 4+ years of Hibernate experience mapping from Java classes to database tables.
- Experience with ORACLE database to include creation and modification of tables, scripts, queries and data structure.
- Cloud computing experience with migrating applications to the cloud and developing UI on the front end.
- Microservices knowledge and experience identifying the need for microservices, developing requirements, programming microservices and testing.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to new technologies and work in a dynamic environment.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze problems and come up with effective solutions and the ability to work effectively within a team to drive success across various technical domains.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts and collaborate with team members.
- Knowledge of the latest technologies and how they can be applied to complex problems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI), similar to a Public Trust Clearance, prior to start.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current IRS MBI clearance and prior IRS experience is highly desirable.
- AI development, a plus.
Clearance Required:
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) for 3 years and be Federal Tax compliant.
