You will play a crucial role in developing Data Lifecycle Tools to support data, metadata and knowledge management in operations. In this way, you actively contribute to the success of the digital transformation at ZEISS, driven by ZEISS Digital Partners.
Given the ZEISS-wide and inter-disciplinary relevance of Data Lifecycle Management, you will closely collaborate with stakeholders from ZEISS business units and from ZEISS Digital Partners.
Your direct roles and responsibilities are:
- You will build highly scalable technical solutions for the automated consolidation, processing and governance of large amounts of data - from conception to prototyping to operations (batch and streaming)
- You will evaluate the latest trends and technologies, help shape our architecture decisions including the DevOps / DataOps processes and drive innovative solutions for data lifecycle management in the governance, analytics/machine learning context
- You contribute to ensuring continuous quality, reusability and performance improvement and take responsibility for applications and stakeholders during development, commissioning and operation
- You automate and deploy data transformation pipelines on the provided Azure Data Platform
- You coordinate and monitor team efforts to establish a (clean-code) and test-driven Software Development setting, support software releases and stable operations
- You investigate user needs and define user flows that help to develop user-centric technical solutions.
Requirements:
- Excellent university degree in computer science, business informatics, mathematics or in a related field
- 3-7 years of relevant professional experience in IT:
- Professional development skills in Python/Java/Scala
- Experience with Cloud technologies preferably Microsoft Azure
- Experience with distributed processing frameworks: Spark-based data transformations (e.g. Databricks, Data Factory, MS Fabric), search engines (Elastic), graph databases, and analytical or in-memory database systems (SQL and NoSQL)
- Experience in productionalising and publishing data and platform services as scalable, performant Data APIs consumed by multiple services and applications
- Strong Experience in Data Modelling, Pipeline Orchestration and Scheduling (ex: Airflow) and Data Artifacts deployment (ex: Azure DEVOPS, GitHub)
- Professional Experience in multiple forms of Data Storages (Azure Blob, AWS S3, Minio, Starbust), columnar data formats (Parquet, Iceberg) and their interrogation via SQL and APIs
- Extent development of container based applications (Kubernetes)
- Experience with cloud-based development artifacts and infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform)
- Experience working with distributed, multi-service architectures, integrating multiple backend services via REST APIs and/or events
- Synchronous and asynchronous application integration know-how and relevant tooling
- Experience designing and validating end-to-end workflows across multiple services, including integration and system-level testing
- Understanding of dataset abstractions, metadata management, and data lifecycle concepts (ingestion, storage, access, governance)
- Experience with authentication, authorization, and role-based access control in data or platform environments
- Agile Software-development using Scrum / Kanban
- Best-practices and implementation for continuous integration / delivery
- Experience with Monitoring and Logging is a plus (Grafana, Datadog)
- A strong goal-oriented mindset in project delivery
- A strong ownership for developed products
- A strong customer-oriented mindset, UI/UX experience is a plus
- An independent, conscientious and solution-oriented way of working
- Having IT consultancy experience is a plus
- Fluency in English
