Job Description
Job Summary:
As a Software Architect for Rockwell Automation, you will design and develop industry-leading commercial software known for its innovation and usability, in particular real-time scalable features based on Rockwell's Manufacturing Execution System (MES) that are often integrated with machine automation and control systems as well as ERP software.
You must collaborate with the agile teams to lead them towards a shared technical direction. You will also have contact points with customers and customer-facing RA personnel (Marketing, Commercial Engineers, Sales) to refine customer needs and the solutions to meet those needs, all major partners (internal and external), to determine their (evolving) needs and resolve complex problems that have long-term possible effects and with Product & Feature teams, to identify dependencies, opportunities and disconnects between product features and platform features. In general, you will define the architectural runway for one or more products.

You will report to the Senior Manager, Software Engineering and have a hybrid schedule working in Hinjewadi, Pune, India
Your Responsibilities:- Responsible for technical leadership and development of MES architecture, cloud technologies, and standards for use with Rockwell Automation product
- Lead on-prem / hybrid / cloud architecture.
- Understand the business and marketing requirements for the business, including the target environment, performance criteria and issues; provide input to product planning activity and assist in making development trade-offs.
- Partner with other architects, product management, program management, engineering service to define and implement the technology roadmap.
- Developing effective strategies to move existing solutions into the cloud, identifying key technologies that provide competitive advantage, working with customers to establish appropriate hybrid cloud solutions where necessary.
- Provide proof-of-concept demos on emerging development paradigms and technology that may serve as the starting point for further development activitiesContributes to reviews of documents, designs, code, test cases and user documentation.
- Maintain technical expertise in the field. Keep current through contacts with educational institutions, professional societies, and technical publications. Maintain awareness of applicable new technologies, processes, and trends.
- Develop and maintain relationships with partner companies.
- Leverage advances in technology concepts to refine platform capabilities
- Mentor engineering teams on the adoption of new technologies, tools, and processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- 16 years of experience in new product development and design of software or software systems including significant background with large scale enterprise system development projects
- 3 Years of experience with Architect Role
- 2 years of experience with cloud technology
- Certified Cloud Architect
- Master's degree in computer engineering or equivalent discipline
- Hands-on expert with data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented designs in Java.
- In depth understanding of various design patterns for enterprise applications
- Experience with different UX technologies
- Expertise in cloud native and distributed computing system architecture.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure / Amazon AWS / Google Cloud Platform or other.
- Expertise in high availability, performance and scalability, SOA.
- Good understanding of modern software delivery practices like rapid prototyping,
- CI/CD, containerization, virtualization etc. and various test strategies like TDD / BDD
- Experience with security, data communication, and contemporary user interface technologies in enterprise environment.
- Understanding of Big Data Solution and Data Architecture
