Position Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Social Media Specialist to join our dynamic team! Sitting on the Teacher Education Ecosystem and reporting to the Director of Content Marketing, this individual will play a pivotal role in managing our social media presence across various platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, Reddit, etc.). Beyond day-to-day social media management, the ideal candidate will have a knack for driving influencer/collaborator content and a passion for fostering authentic community engagement. If you are a creative thinker who is passionate about education and ready to elevate your career, we invite you to join us in this exciting journey.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute creative social media strategies across platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Reddit, etc.) to enhance brand visibility, engagement, and growth.
  • Develop a keen understanding of our various audiences and their interests, needs, and goals — applying that knowledge to social media strategy and engagement.
  • Collaborate to create engaging, on-brand multimedia content (including graphics, photos, videos, reels, and stories) tailored to each platform.
  • Foster community by actively engaging with users, igniting conversations, and responding to comments and messages promptly.
  • Identify potential influencers, collaborators, and affiliates, support the activation process, and help maintain strong, productive relationships.
  • Follow brand and messaging guidelines and ensure consistency in brand identity across all platforms.
  • Stay up to date on trends, features, and algorithm changes across social media platforms.
  • Leverage tools and techniques to maximize reach, engagement, and conversion rates.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field preferred, but applicable experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in social media management and community engagement in a professional setting (higher education environment is a plus).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook (pages and groups), Reddit, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.
  • Familiarity with influencer marketing principles and experience supporting influencer collaborations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling content, engage diverse audiences, and present ideas effectively.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in social media analytics tools.
  • Creative thinker with a passion for staying ahead of social media trends and emerging platforms.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational, leadership, and time-management skills to successfully manage multiple channels and campaigns simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Background in education (teaching or edtech, K-12 or higher ed space) is helpful, but not required.

Colibri Group welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and experiences, and we understand that not every candidate will meet every requirement listed in the job description. Research has shown that women and people of color may be less likely to apply to jobs unless they feel they meet every qualification, and we want to actively combat this bias in our hiring process. If you're excited about the role and believe you have the skills and experience to contribute to our team, we encourage you to apply, even if your background doesn't align perfectly with every qualification listed. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace, and we believe that diversity of perspectives and experiences is essential to our success. You may be just the right candidate for this role or another position within our organization. Don't hesitate to take the leap and apply today!
