The Opportunity:
UCF Strategic Communications is seeking a creative and highly motivated Social Media Specialist to help bring the university’s stories to life across UCF’s enterprise social media channels. This role is ideal for a hands-on content creator who is passionate about visual storytelling and staying ahead of emerging social media trends. They will capture and transform moments from across the university into engaging video, photo, and design content that resonates with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other key audiences.
We are looking for someone who is naturally curious, creative, and always looking for the next great story to tell. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for visual content, enjoys experimenting with new ideas, and thrives on finding authentic ways to engage audiences through video, photography, and digital storytelling. Classification Title: Social Media Communications Specialist II
Responsibilities:
Independently create, edit, and produce compelling video, photo, and design content for official UCF social media platforms.
Stay updated with the latest trends in social media to ensure content remains engaging and relevant.
Collaborate with team members to develop content strategies, policies, and best practices for social media platforms.
Attend and capture engaging content at special events, working flexible hours as needed.
Participate in team meetings, contributing ideas and feedback to enhance content quality and effectiveness.
Coordinate and train student interns in content creation and equipment maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience creating original social media content for an organization, student organization, or similar audience-facing account.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite or similar creative tools to edit visual content.
Knowledge of social media trends, platform-specific strategies, and best practices for creating timely, audience-focused content.
Strong creative judgment, collaboration skills, and ability to translate stories, ideas, or organizational priorities into compelling social media content.
Familiarity with UCF, higher education, student life, or mission-driven storytelling.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $49,000-$50,000. The final amount will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
