SpecterOps is seeking a contract-based Social Media Specialist to support the execution of our social media program across multiple channels. This role is responsible for creating content, maintaining our social media calendar, scheduling and publishing through Sprout Social, and ensuring a consistent, engaging brand presence across LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, and Instagram. 

This role works closely with the PR & Social Media Manager and internal subject matter experts to transform existing content, thought leadership, events, and company initiatives into compelling social content and uses AI tools to do it at scale without sacrificing quality or brand fidelity. 

Hourly Range: $30 – $40/hour, commensurate with experience 

Location:  

This position is remote, based in the U.S. with optional travel quarterly for in-person company events and other ad hoc meetings.   

  • Candidate must be authorized to work and reside in the United States; we do not currently sponsor immigration visas. 

Responsibilities 

  • Create social media content for review and approval across active channels (LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, and Instagram) 
  • Maintain the social media content calendar 
  • Schedule and publish content using Sprout Social 
  • Repurpose existing content including blog posts, event promotions, webinars, research, and thought leadership into platform-appropriate social posts 
  • Use AI tools to scale content production while maintaining brand voice and quality standards 
  • Develop, refine, and maintain prompt libraries and AI workflows for repeatable social content generation 
  • Monitor social media channels for engagement, comments, and relevant conversations 
  • Ensure all content aligns with brand voice, messaging, and platform best practices 
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather content inputs and supporting assets 
  • Stay informed on platform updates, emerging social media trends, and evolving AI capabilities relevant to content creation 

Requirements 

  • 2–5 years of professional social media management experience 
  • Experience managing social media accounts for B2B organizations 
  • Experience maintaining and executing social media content calendars 
  • Experience using social media management platforms such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or similar tools 
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools (such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) to generate, adapt, and scale social media content 
  • Strong prompt engineering skills, including the ability to develop brand-consistent prompts and iterate based on output quality 
  • Ability to critically evaluate and edit AI-generated content for accuracy, tone, and brand alignment 
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills. You know good copy and can tell when AI gets it wrong 
  • Ability to translate complex or technical topics into engaging, accessible social media content 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently 

Nice to Haves 

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or related field, or equivalent professional experience 
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity, technology, or technical audiences 
  • Experience building structured AI-assisted content workflows or content production systems (not just using AI ad hoc) 
  • Experience promoting thought leadership content and industry events 
  • Familiarity with employee advocacy and executive social media programs 
  • Understanding of social media analytics and performance measurement
