The University of New Hampshire is seeking a creative, collaborative, and proactive Social Media Producer to join our central marketing team. Reporting to the Social Media Director, the Social Media Producer is responsible for creating engaging, platform-specific content that brings the UNH experience to life for key audiences, including prospective undergraduate students, current students, and alumni.

This highly collaborative role produces multimedia content for UNH social media channels, works closely with student content creators and campus partners, and uses audience insights and performance data to continually strengthen UNH’s social media presence. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of social media platforms and trends, excellent visual storytelling skills, and experience creating authentic content that connects with audiences while reflecting UNH’s brand and voice.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Content Creation, Planning, and Scheduling — 50%

  • Produce and curate high-quality multimedia content, including photos, videos, graphics, and short-form copy, for UNH social media accounts across multiple platforms.
  • Capture live event coverage, behind-the-scenes moments, student experiences, achievements, and other content that brings the UNH experience to life.
  • Plan and schedule social media content in coordination with broader university marketing priorities, campaigns, and audience needs.
  • Collaborate with university departments, student organizations, and external partners to source and create original content that reflects UNH’s brand and resonates with key audiences.

Collaboration with Student Workers — 25%

  • Supervise and mentor a team of student workers, coordinating their efforts in capturing and creating social media content that resonates with student audiences.
  • Provide training and guidance on content creation, including photography, videography, and writing for social media, ensuring consistency with the university’s brand and voice.
  • Empower student workers to share their perspectives on campus life, helping provide an authentic and relatable view of the UNH experience.

Coordination and Collaboration with Campus Partners — 10%

  • Build and maintain relationships with campus stakeholders to stay abreast of university happenings, priorities, and opportunities for social media content.
  • Align processes with campus partners to improve efficiency, visibility, coordination, and impact.

Analytics and Reporting — 10%

  • Monitor social media analytics to understand content performance, audience preferences, and platform trends, using data insights to refine approaches and inform future content.
  • Create monthly, biannual, and campaign-level reports on social media activity, presenting insights to inform team decision-making and optimize content effectiveness.
  • Stay current on social media trends, emerging platforms, tools, and evolving best practices to help ensure UNH remains at the forefront of digital engagement.

Community Management — 5%

  • Monitor comments, messages, and brand mentions to foster a positive and interactive online community, actively engaging with audiences as appropriate.
  • Research and implement best practices to improve engagement rates, grow audience reach, and elevate UNH’s social media presence across channels.

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, digital media, or a related field and 2+ years of experience working in social media, including content creation, planning, publishing, and community engagement.
  • Strong proficiency in content creation tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and mobile editing applications.
  • Demonstrated experience with video production, photography, and/or graphic design for social media.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and a strong sense of visual storytelling.
  • Knowledge of social media trends, algorithms, platform best practices, and audience behaviors.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with colleagues and partners across an organization.
  • Experience using social media analytics to evaluate performance and inform content decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education or a similarly complex organization.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring students, interns, or other content creators.
  • Experience creating social media content for multiple audiences and platforms.

Compensation Pay Range:

$47,920.00 - $85,410.00
