Marquette Mountain Resort is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Social Media & Community Marketing Coordinator to drive our digital presence and strengthen our local footprint. Operating in the heart of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Marquette Mountain Resort delivers exceptional year-round outdoor recreation. This dynamic, multi-faceted role bridges high-impact digital storytelling with active, boots-on-the-ground community engagement. The ideal candidate will combine a strong creative lens for real-time content creation with the interpersonal confidence to cultivate local business partnerships, build brand awareness, and drive regional revenue.

Shift: Part Time 0-29 hours per week, must be available for Weekdays, Weeknights, Weekends, Days, Afternoons, Nights 

Key Responsibilities:

Digital Marketing & Content Strategy

On-Mountain Content Creation: Safely navigate mountain terrain (via ski or snowboard) across diverse weather conditions to capture photos and videos documenting snow conditions, resort atmosphere, events, and guest experiences.

Social Media Management: Execute, schedule, and optimize interactive content across key platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) to showcase real-time conditions, weather alerts, operational updates, and promotional campaigns.

Community Engagement: Serve as the digital voice of Marquette Mountain Resort by actively managing inbox inquiries, monitoring comments, and maintaining timely, professional communication with our online audience.

Campaign Execution: Support promotional strategies to drive ticket sales, season pass renewals, event attendance, and food and beverage venue traffic through cohesive digital media.

Event & Regional Promotion: Manage submissions to regional event calendars, tourism board listings, and community media outlets to maximize resort exposure across the Upper Peninsula.

Community Outreach, Strategic Partnerships & Revenue

  • Regional Brand Representation: Act as a key ambassador by establishing and maintaining professional relationships with local businesses, hotel partners, and regional stakeholders across Marquette and surrounding areas.
  • Collateral Distribution: Execute local marketing campaigns through the physical distribution of seasonal brochures, rack cards, posters, and event materials at strategic community touchpoints.
  • Sponsorship Program Development: Design, structure, and pitch compelling sponsorship packages that offer regional businesses marketing inventory across web platforms, digital channels, events, and lift infrastructure.

Professional Qualifications & Experience

  • Social Media & Content Experience: Proven track record in professional or high-level personal social media management, including expertise with Instagram (Reels/Stories), Facebook Business Suite, and video/photo editing tools.
  • Skilled Outdoor Athlete: Intermediate to advanced skiing or snowboarding ability, with personal equipment and physical capability to safely carry camera equipment across varied mountain terrain.
  • Communication & Sales Aptitude: Outgoing, highly presentable professional comfortable delivering pitches, conducting cold outreach, and representing the resort to local business leaders.
  • Self-Direction: Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet production deadlines, and operate effectively without continuous direct supervision.
  • Mobility: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for local community travel.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Ability to operate outdoors in extreme, variable weather conditions (winter snow, cold, summer heat, and rain).
  • Ability to hike terrain, ride chairlifts, and maneuver safely on slope environments while transporting media gear.
  • Flexible work schedule required, including weekend, holiday, and event-based hours tailored to seasonal operational peaks.
