Life in the New York Office
Life at our New York office blends start-up energy with the backing of a global agency. Based in the heart of Flatiron, we're a close-knit team building something special. We value curiosity, social fluency, and people who want to grow with us. We work in a hybrid way, with a minimum of three days a week in the office to keep collaboration and creativity at the core of what we do.
The Role
We're looking for a Junior Social Media Manager (Social Exec) to join our New York team — a hybrid role sitting across account service and social content, built for someone who can hold a client relationship as confidently as they can write a caption or plan a content calendar.
This isn't a pure social role, and it isn't a pure account role. It's for someone who thrives in the space between the two. You'll be embedded across client accounts, supporting day-to-day client management while owning social content planning, ideation, and community management for specific brands. You'll need platform fluency, strong creative instincts, and enough commercial awareness to understand why the work matters.
If you're someone who gets excited about a trending sound as much as a well-run project status, this role was made for you.
What You'll Do
Account Service
- Support day-to-day client management across assigned accounts, acting as a reliable point of contact for routine queries
- Assist in the coordination and delivery of social campaigns, keeping timelines, assets, and workflows on track
- Prepare client-facing materials including status updates, meeting agendas, and contact reports
- Collaborate with internal teams — creative, strategy, production — to brief and chase deliverables
- Maintain project trackers and internal documentation, flagging risks or delays early
Social Content Planning & Ideation
- Own monthly and quarterly social content calendars for assigned brands, aligned to campaign objectives and platform best practice
- Generate proactive content ideas rooted in cultural moments, platform trends, and audience insights
- Write compelling, on-brand copy for social posts across Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube
- Support creative development by writing briefs, contributing to brainstorms, and reviewing content for platform suitability
- Stay ahead of platform updates, algorithm changes, and emerging formats to ensure content is always optimised
Community Management
- Manage the day-to-day community presence for assigned client accounts, including monitoring, responding, and engaging across platforms
- Develop and maintain community management guidelines, tone of voice frameworks, and escalation processes in line with client brand standards
- Identify and flag opportunities for real-time reactive content or community-led moments
- Track sentiment, community health, and emerging conversations, reporting insights back to the wider team
Social-First x Brand Impact
Being socially native is at the heart of everything we do. We don't just "do social" — we live and breathe culture. Success in this role means deeply understanding platforms, creators, trends, and conversations, and translating them into work that feels authentic, bold, and built for the feed.
It's okay to be chronically online.
We'd Love You to Have
- 1–3 years of experience in a social media, content, or account management role (agency experience preferred)
- Deep, genuine familiarity with social platforms — you use them daily, you understand how they work, and you can spot a trend before it peaks
- Strong copywriting skills with the ability to adapt tone and voice across multiple brands and platforms
- Experience building or contributing to social content calendars and content plans
- Hands-on community management experience — you know how to represent a brand online without losing the human touch
- Solid organisational and project management skills; comfortable managing multiple brands and deadlines simultaneously
- A proactive, ideas-first mentality — you bring content concepts to meetings, not just questions
- Confidence in communicating with clients and presenting content rationale clearly
- Familiarity with social listening tools, scheduling platforms, and basic analytics dashboards
- An interest in creator culture, influencer marketing, or the broader creator economy (a plus)
- Knowledge of gaming, entertainment, or youth culture (a plus)
Benefits Package
- Highly competitive 30 days' holiday (excluding Federal Holidays, inclusive of the Reset Policy)
- Reset Policy – Up to 10 additional non-contractual rest days (subject to policy terms; may be amended or withdrawn)
- Birthday Leave – An additional paid day off on your birthday
- December Office Closure – Office closed during the holiday period, outside of standard vacation days
- Year-End Holiday Shutdown – Company-wide closure; some annual leave may be reserved, with discretionary additional paid leave granted where applicable
- Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
- Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
- Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
- Family Leave (Maternity & Paternity)
- Training & Development opportunities
Salary Range: $50k–$65k
What We Do
We're NewGen, the social-first creative and creator agency that sits at the intersection of culture, community, and creators. We exist because we think agencies have been slow to adapt to major shifts in consumer behaviour and digital engagement, clinging to outdated methodologies that no longer pack the desired punch. Bringing new thinking into all corners of our business, life at NewGen is fast, forward-thinking, and fun.
