If you are passionate about building platforms that enable data ingestion and transformation fueling advanced data analytics, this position for our Finance Data Platform Team is the perfect job for you! Our team is looking for a Junior Database Administrator to be part of a dynamic, high performing team leading the development and implementation of the Global Finance Data Platform. This team is performing a vital role in transforming our mindset to using data as an enterprise asset by enabling platforms that bring data to modernized data platforms on AWS & Snowflake.
The candidate should play central critical role for identifying performing core database administration for Snowflake environment, build pipelines to define metrics related to all things snowflake and be key central point of contact for Snowflake within the organization.
What You Will Do:
  • Administer, support, and optimize Snowflake environments, including user onboarding, security roles, role‑based policies, and capacity planning.
  • Work directly with Snowflake Support to raise tickets, triage outages, and resolve production issues.
  • Develop, build, and maintain mission‑critical centralized data platforms using SQL and Snowflake, including diagnosing and troubleshooting database errors.
  • Implement and support automation for production deployments, recurring database tasks, and system monitoring.
  • Create and maintain database standards, reports, dashboards, and visualizations to support diverse user groups-from data engineers to data scientists.
  • Manage Snowflake utilization metrics, consumption reporting, and performance optimization.
  • Support on‑call responsibilities on a rotational basis for Snowflake database administration.
  • Review project requests, estimate effort, and ensure database solutions meet business and technical requirements.

What You Have:
  • Snowflake Administration Expertise: Hands‑on experience with Snowflake admin activities, SnowSQL, and troubleshooting Snowflake database issues.
  • Advanced SQL & Data Modeling: Ability to write complex SQL queries and understanding of relational and dimensional modeling.
  • Automation & Deployment Skills: Experience automating database tasks, deployments, and monitoring workflows.
  • Security & Governance Knowledge: Strong understanding of database security, role‑based access, backup/recovery concepts, and performance monitoring.
  • Cloud & Cross‑Platform Experience: Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure) and exposure to multiple database technologies (e.g., Teradata, BigQuery, SQL Server, MongoDB).

Top Candidates Will Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in database administration, database architecture, or a related discipline.
  • 2-3 years of hands‑on Snowflake DBA or Analyst experience, including admin‑level responsibilities.
  • Certifications in database administration or Snowflake‑related technologies (preferred).
  • Experience working with heterogeneous data environments and supporting diverse technical user groups.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Location: Dallas, TX (primary), East Peoria, IL, Nashville, TN
  • This role requires 5 days a week in office
  • Domestic relocation available for those that qualify

Summary Pay Range:
$89,210.00 - $133,810.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
