Job Description

The E-Commerce & Operations Assistant is a hands-on role focused on supporting North 40 Outfitters – Smith & Rogue e-commerce operations and helping get products live on the website. This position plays a key role in building complete product pages, writing detailed and accurate product descriptions, and supporting product launches across all categories.

In this role, you’ll work closely with the e-commerce and media teams to ensure products are fully built out online—including images, descriptions, and key details—so launches are accurate, timely, and consistent. Understand timing of new product arrivals, identify what’s missing or incomplete on the website, and support overall launch readiness from inventory arrival through publication.

In addition to e-commerce responsibilities, this role also supports our customer service team to ensure a seamless experience from product launch to post-purchase. The assistant will be cross-trained to help manage inbox inquiries, answer product questions, assist with returns and exchanges, and provide coverage during peak seasons or when additional support is needed. By staying closely connected to both product setup and real-time customer feedback, this position helps bridge the gap between what we put online and what our customers experience—strengthening trust, clarity, and overall satisfaction across our online stores.

Key Responsibilities

E‑commerce & Website Support

  • Upload and manage products on the Smith & Rogue website, including images, descriptions, variants, and metadata
  • Write clear, engaging product descriptions that speak to function, features, and brand voice
  • Ensure we have all product and marketing materials for new arrivals and product launches
  • Contributing and assisting of updating website content including blogs, newsletters and updating pages as needed

Customer Service

  • Sales & Hospitality: Serve as the first point of contact and set the tone for our brand experience. Build genuine relationships, understand customer needs, and create memorable interactions that turn customers into brand advocates.
  • Customer Support: Manage returns, exchanges, defective products, order issues, and technical product questions. Ensure clear, prompt communication and resolutions that reflect our commitment to care.

Asset Management & Collaboration

  • Upload, organize, and maintain a clean, searchable asset library
  • Assist with light photo editing and exports (training provided)
  • Work closely with the creative and marketing team to brainstorm ideas and maintain brand alignment
  • Ensure all ecommerce content reflects Smith & Rogues aesthetic and brand standards

Photography & Content Production

  • Assist with studio product photography (gear, apparel, accessories)
  • Assist with lifestyle photography
  • Help coordinate samples for shoots and ensure products are ready to photograph

Qualifications

  • Passionate about the outdoors & PNW lifestyle Smith & Rogue represents with a strong interest in the gear, brands, and culture
  • Entry-level experience welcome
  • Comfortable working on a computer and learning new systems, experience with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro) is preferred.
  • Comfortable writing and editing copy
  • Keen Attention to Detail: You catch the little things that make a big difference.
  • Not afraid to ask questions: It’s ok to not be an expert, and you aren’t in it alone
  • Be a problem solver: We’re still building this thing. It sometimes requires some grit, some determination, and detective work to get to the right answer.

Nice to Have

  • Basic photo or video editing skills
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms (Adobe Commerce)
  • Basic HTML knowledge
  • Understanding of SEO-friendly product listings and metadata
