We make health happen
At Bupa, our purpose is simple: helping people live longer, healthier, happier lives and making a better world. As a health insurer and healthcare provider, we're focused on our customers, not shareholders. That means every decision we make is centred on delivering great outcomes and outstanding experiences.
As an SME Account & New Business Manager, you'll play an important role in helping businesses access the health insurance support their employees need. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career across both account management and new business sales. You'll manage a portfolio of small and medium-sized business customers while identifying new opportunities for growth through direct relationships and intermediary partners.
If you enjoy building trusted relationships, finding solutions, and helping customers get the most from their health insurance, you'll have the chance to make a real difference while developing a broad commercial skillset in a supportive, purpose-led organisation.
Key Responsibilities
As an SME Account & New Business Manager, you'll:
- Manage and grow a portfolio of SME customers and intermediary partners.
- Build strong relationships through regular contact, meetings, and excellent customer service.
- Retain and develop existing business by supporting customer renewals and identifying growth opportunities.
- Generate and convert new business opportunities through referrals, intermediary relationships, inbound enquiries, and proactive outreach.
- Manage sales opportunities from initial enquiry through to completion, including quotations, negotiations, and follow-up activity.
- Support new customers through the onboarding process, helping to create a smooth and positive experience.
- Work closely with intermediaries, sharing product knowledge and supporting customer meetings, presentations, and sales opportunities.
- Use Salesforce and performance data to manage your pipeline, prioritise activity, and identify opportunities for growth.
- Stay up to date with market developments, competitor activity, and customer trends.
- Resolve customer queries and concerns, working with colleagues across the business when needed.
- Contribute ideas that improve customer experiences and ways of working.
- Maintain high standards of quality, customer care, and regulatory compliance.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who enjoys working with customers, is commercially minded, and takes ownership of delivering results.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience within health insurance, healthcare, insurance, or financial services.
- A background in account management, business development, sales, or a combination of these areas.
- Experience building strong customer and/or intermediary relationships.
- Strong communication skills, with confidence presenting and negotiating across phone, virtual and face-to-face channels.
- A proactive approach and the ability to spot opportunities for growth.
- Good planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, using data to support decision-making and performance improvement.
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Knowledge of the health insurance market or a willingness to quickly build your expertise.
- Experience using CRM systems such as Salesforce and Microsoft Office applications.
- A collaborative approach and a commitment to continuous learning and development.
