Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior SmartCOMM Developer with 7 to 9 years of hands-on experience in Customer Communications Management (CCM) design, development, and enterprise integration. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, and delivering high-volume batch and interactive communication templates using SmartCOMM. You will collaborate closely with business analysts, solution architects, and downstream delivery teams to drive seamless, omnichannel digital communication strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architecture & Template Design: Design, build, and maintain complex multi-channel (Print, Email, SMS, Web/Portal) document templates using SmartCOMM Template Designer, Data Modeler, and Style Editor.

  • Data Modeling & Mapping: Configure schemas, data models, and business logic using XML, XSD, JSON, and XPath to handle dynamic, rule-driven enterprise communication layouts.

  • Enterprise Integration: Integrate SmartCOMM solutions with upstream enterprise core platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Guidewire, SAP, Duck Creek, or internal legacy core engines) via REST/SOAP APIs and message queues (Kafka, MQ).

  • Workflow & Orchestration: Configure and optimize batch generation, on-demand document generation, and interactive drafting workflows.

  • Code Reviews & Best Practices: Establish and enforce design standards, template modularity, reusability, and version control best practices within the CCM development lifecycle.

  • Performance Tuning: Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks in high-volume batch runs and API-triggered real-time communications.

  • Migration & Modernization: Assist in migrating legacy communication templates (e.g., Thunderhead NOW, OpenText Exstream, Quadient Inspire, DocuMaker) to modern SmartCOMM architectures.

  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance, perform peer code reviews, and mentor junior and mid-level CCM developers.



RequirementsRequired Skills & Qualifications
  • Core Experience: 7 to 9 years in Customer Communications Management (CCM) with at least 4+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience in SmartCOMM (Smart Communications).

  • SmartCOMM Tools: Deep expertise in:

    • SmartCOMM Template Designer

    • Data Modeler & Schema Definitions

    • Document Orchestration & Output Channels (PDF, HTML5, Email, Print streams)

    • SmartCOMM Appliance / Cloud platform configurations

  • Data Formats & Querying: Strong proficiency in XML, XSLT, XPath, XSD, and JSON.

  • Integration & Web Services: Solid background in consuming and exposing RESTful and SOAP web services.

  • Scripting / Programming: Working knowledge of JavaScript, Groovy, or Java for custom business rules and transformations.

  • Lifecycle Management: Experience using Git, SVN, CI/CD pipelines, and JIRA in an Agile/Scrum delivery model.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to Have / Desired Skills
  • Experience integrating SmartCOMM with CRM/ERP platforms like Salesforce (SmartCOMM for Salesforce) or Guidewire (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter).

  • Hands-on knowledge of legacy Thunderhead NOW migration to SmartCOMM.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerized deployments.

  • Official Smart Communications Developer certification.
