Schedule: Rotating 8-Hour Shifts
Pay Rate: $21.74/hour
Shift Differential: Additional $1.00/hour for 2nd and 3rd shift hours

  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

  • 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Summary Description

The Slitter Assistant supports the Slitter Operator with the safe and efficient operation of slitting equipment used to convert large rolls of material into finished rolls according to customer and production specifications.

This position assists with equipment setup, material handling, quality inspections, roll packaging, housekeeping, and production activities while maintaining established safety, quality, food safety, and operating standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assist with the safe and efficient operation of slitting and roll-handling equipment.

  • Set up and operate core cutting and roll-wrapping equipment.

  • Cut cores to required sizes and maintain an appropriate supply for upcoming slitting jobs.

  • Palletize finished rolls and move completed products to designated finished goods areas.

  • Perform required quality checks before and after production runs.

  • Review customer specifications and job requirements to ensure finished products meet expectations.

  • Conduct final inspections of finished rolls.

  • Follow established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), 5S, and DTM requirements.

  • Assist with material handling and machine setup activities as directed by the Slitter Operator.

  • Submit work orders for equipment issues, repairs, or maintenance needs.

  • Follow all established food safety and allergen-control requirements.

  • Immediately report safety concerns, incidents, equipment problems, and quality issues.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

  • Participate in Global Performance System (GPS) activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • You have a high school diploma or GED (required).

  • You have experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (preferred).

  • You can read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

  • You have basic computer and data-entry skills.

  • You are comfortable using tools and standard and metric measuring devices.

  • You have experience with pallet wrapping, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment.

  • You can operate or are willing to learn how to safely operate overhead hoist systems.

  • You are dependable and able to work rotating shifts.

  • You can follow safety procedures, work instructions, and customer specifications.

  • You have strong attention to detail and are committed to maintaining product quality.

  • You can work effectively both independently and as part of a manufacturing team.
