We are currently seeking a seasoned Site Manager to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role is essential in managing the Kruševac site, in compliance with Serbian legislation and DS Smith global programs. Site Manager is responsible for asset availability, efficiency and effectiveness of the Kruševac location assets to support and protect the company and the sustainability and growth of the business. This will link in with the continuous reviewing of our sites operational performance and providing the data and insight needed to challenge current processes and improve overall efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees day-to-day operations, ensuring that work is performed according to the plan, safety, and quality standards, while meeting production targets.
  • Works on planning, organization, implementation, and continuous improvement of work processes in production, aiming to reduce downtimes, maintain operational continuity, and increase productivity and cost-effectiveness.
  • Leads and coordinates site activities, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, environmental standards, and compliance with local and international legislation.
  • Has full responsibility for the proper functioning, preventive maintenance, and timely repairs of equipment, technical systems, and facilities to maximize asset availability and reliability.
  • Analyzes operational, technical, and logistical aspects of the business, identifying inefficiencies and proposing measures to improve production processes and workflows.
  • Monitors and ensures that safety protocols and risk assessments are regularly updated and enforced to protect employees and assets, promoting a safety-first culture.
  • Actively participates in the creation and execution of programs for the development and optimization of the production process, including process automation and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Oversees the site's compliance with international standards (e.g., ISO, OHSAS), corporate policies, and internal rules, ensuring proper documentation, audits, and quality control systems are in place.
  • Drives the development and implementation of capital investment programs to support the site's long-term strategic goals, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and cost reduction.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving quality control procedures, ensuring products meet the required standards and specifications.
  • Reports on operational performance, production statistics, safety metrics, and other KPIs to internal and external stakeholders, providing actionable insights to drive performance improvements.
  • Provides expert opinion and recommendations when determining production plans and forecasts, working closely with senior management and other departments.
  • Manages site budgets, monitors financial performance, and ensures that cost-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements are implemented.
  • Fosters strong relationships with suppliers and contractors, ensuring that all external services meet quality, cost, and delivery expectations.
  • Develops, trains, and mentors staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development, with a focus on high performance and employee engagement.
  • Champions sustainability initiatives across the site, aligning with the company’s environmental objectives, and ensuring energy efficiency, waste reduction, and eco-friendly practices are prioritized.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical or commercial field; Master’s degree preferred;
  • Proven managerial and leadership skills, preferably in a similar role or industry;
  • Strong conceptual and strategic thinking capabilities;
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to advise and influence management decisions.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and people management skills.
  • Exposure to business and planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; SAP knowledge will be considered an advantage.
  • Fluent in English (both spoken and written).
