About the Role
As a Site Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing and coordinating project installation activities to ensure the successful delivery of our baggage handling system projects. You will be responsible for drawing up site plans, monitoring performance, managing stakeholder interactions, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Site Planning and Coordination:
Lead the development of comprehensive project installation plans in collaboration with the Project Manager, encompassing objectives, organization, planning, and cost calculations.
- Quality Assurance and Risk Management:
Monitor Installation quality, timelines, and costs to ensure compliance with standards and budget constraints while providing timely information to stakeholders. Identify, analyze, and address potential problems, risks, and opportunities through proactive corrective and preventive actions, optimizing project outcomes.
- Stakeholder Management:
Manage interactions with all project stakeholders to facilitate smooth coordination and communication, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives. Provide regular and accurate reports to customers, Project Managers, keeping stakeholders informed of installation progress and key milestones.
- Contract Oversight and Compliance:
Advise and oversee contracts with Electrical & Mechanical (E&M) subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications and requirements.
- Process Adherence and Improvement:
Ensure adherence to the Vanderlande Process Map and initiate improvements in site management processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the project team, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing best practices to optimize project outcomes.
- Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and mentor a team of supervisors throughout the project lifecycle, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Promote a strong culture of safety among project teams, emphasizing adherence to safety protocols and practices to ensure a safe working environment.
- Commissioning Support:
Organize and facilitate all support activities to ensure a smooth high-quality handover to commissioning and support commissioning & testing teams until handover to the customer.
Responsible for activities
- Analyze projects and prepare site logistics proposals, including logistics planning and management.
- Prepare sites and assess areas for installation readiness.
- Create detailed site logistics and management plans.
- Oversee installation, and handover of steelwork and manage rest materials (reverse logistics).
- Manage electrical and EM (Electromechanical) installations, including inspections and testing.
- Conduct field wiring tests before and after power-on, including safety-related tests.
- Perform I/O (Input/Output) tests and mechanical static inspections.
- Oversee power-up procedures and material receiving on-site.
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Responsible for deliverables
- Managing the creation and organization of As-Built Notes, Building Area Ready Reports, and various checklists to maintain project quality and compliance.
- Compiling and maintaining Defect and Snag Lists, along with conducting Electrical Static Tests and Field Wiring Tests to ensure system integrity.
- Facilitating the issuance of Handover Certificates and Permits to Load, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained for project milestones.
- Generating comprehensive reports, including Input/Output (I/O) Test Reports and Power-Up Protocol Test Reports, to document project progress and performance.
- Establishing and maintaining the project setup in Pro-Track, and overseeing the preparation and verification of all necessary packing lists.
- Developing and managing Site Logistics and Management Plans, including conducting Toolbox Meetings and preparing Weekly Progress and Safety Reports.
- Ensuring the timely delivery of Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Manuals to clients upon project completion.
Consulted in activities.
- Checking the readiness of project areas and the criteria for commissioning and installation/testing stages.
- Verifying Entry Criteria for Commissioning and Installation & Testing Stages
- Collaborating on the creation of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Plans
- Collecting HSE Plans from sub-contractors.
- Developing the initial Master Schedule
- Creating the Installation File
- Requesting quotes from supply centers
- Updating Schedules (Detail, Supply & Installation; Testing & Commission)
- Handling sales requests for supply centers
Desired Qualification & Experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in Automated Material Handling or Baggage Handling System projects.
- Demonstrated success in site management and leadership roles overseeing the installation of Material Handling Systems.
- Expertise in electrical and mechanical installation processes, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and quality standards.
- Exceptional communication and people skills to effectively consult with stakeholders, subcontractors, and project teams.
- Proven ability to mentor and transfer knowledge to team members and develop the skills of new engineers entering the field.

Travel:
This position may require travel to project sites as necessary for project execution and support.
Candidates should be prepared to travel as part of their responsibilities. Travel requirements will vary based on project needs and locations.
