Role

We are seeking a Site Manager to join our Operations team. In this role, you will support Lithium Americas’ efforts to build, commission, and operate a new plant at Thacker Pass in a safe and efficient manner, working closely with the Site Operations Director. You will provide site-wide oversight and coordination across mining, operations, and maintenance while coordinating closely with EHS, supply chain and other site support functions to ensure alignment of activities, compliance with standards, and readiness for operations.  The Training function will report to the Site Manager, with responsibility for ensuring site training programs support operational readiness, employee development, and ongoing operational needs. While other functional areas do not report directly to this role,  you will act as the integrator for commissioning and daily operations activities—tracking performance, escalating issues, and ensuring all functional areas remain aligned with site objectives. The role is based at our Thacker Pass site and reports to the Site Operations Director. Occasional travel to other LAC offices, project sites, or vendor locations may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Site Operations Director in operational oversight, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable plant commissioning, startup, ramp-up, and routine operations.
• Provide oversight of assigned daily site commissioning and operations activities to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant performance across all functional areas.
• Provide leadership and oversight of the site Training function, ensuring training programs are aligned with commissioning, startup, operational readiness, regulatory requirements, and ongoing workforce development needs. Coordinate with functional leaders (including Operations, Maintenance, Logistics, EHS, Technical Services, etc.)  to align site activities with overall objectives.
• Monitor and report on site-wide performance metrics, identifying risks, bottlenecks, or improvement opportunities and escalating to the Site Operations Director as appropriate.
• Support commissioning, startup, and ramp-up of site operations to achieve design capacity.
• Ensure consistent application of site-wide operational policies, procedures, and standards for safety, environmental compliance, and productivity.
• Participate in site planning and scheduling to support efficient use of resources and alignment across mine and process operations.
• Support operational readiness reviews, audits, and inspections, ensuring all functions meet regulatory and company requirements and employees are appropriately trained and prepared to perform their assigned responsibilities.
• Liaise between the Site Operations Director and functional leaders to ensure clear communication and coordinated execution of site goals.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret operational data across functions to support continuous improvement and decision-making.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or relevant field experience required.
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive operations experience within the chemical, mineral, or hydrometallurgical industries, including significant operational leadership or supervision experience.
• Proven ability to support and coordinate plant operations and implement process improvements (experience as a Plant/Operations Manager/Superintendent preferred).
• Strong understanding of chemical process engineering principles and unit operations.
• Familiarity with large-scale chemical, mineral, or hydrometallurgical processes preferred.
• Experience supporting or overseeing operational training and workforce development programs preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with ability to collaborate and influence teams.
• Self-starter with a strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
