Job Description
Job summary
We are looking for a proactive Engineering Head to lead and manage the engineering function, ensuring maximum equipment and facility availability for manufacturing operations and meet business needs while adhering to quality and safety requirements. The role involves planning and executing continuous improvement projects to enhance productivity, reliability, and compliance, minimizing downtime and production loss while maintaining the highest standards.
Roles & Responsibilities
• You will be responsible for maintaining manufacturing equipment and automated systems to ensure correct functionality and calibration compliance, and ensure their operation within validated process parameters.
• You will lead the team towards the zero downtime concept, higher reliability, maximum availability, and zero failures, reducing batch loss due to equipment issues.
• Your role involves ensuring good breakdown analysis and driving a strategy for handling of critical breakdowns, while continuously developing and improving preventive maintenance practices.
• You will be responsible for ensuring effective and efficient production operations across all plants, leading the team in identifying continuous improvement opportunities, lifecycle management of critical equipment, debottleneck, LDM (Lean Daily Management) and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) initiatives, energy and resource optimization for higher productivity, networking with other DRL units, cost efficiency, and KPI (Key Performance Indicators) development and monitoring.
• Additionally, you'll be involved in preparing and supporting the development of CAPEX (capital expenditure) proposals, feasibility studies, and approvals. Moreover, your responsibilities include ensuring timely execution of projects with timeline and compliance, good budgeting for OPEX (operating expenses), tracking, and monitoring costs.
• You will be responsible for addressing discrepancies, collaborating with cross-functional departments to close gaps, and implementing corrective actions.
• Your role also involves compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and safety standards, ensuring SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) adherence for the operation of designated manufacturing equipment, batch documentation, and data collection and maintenance according to current GMPs and regulatory requirements.
• You will be responsible for leading the team in safety awareness and improvements, ensuring compliance with safety rules and standards, and proactively engaging in continuous improvement activities for safe and compliant equipment operations.
• Additionally, you will oversee the team's adherence to safety guidelines, environmental KPIs, and QMS (Quality Management System) elements. You will identify and address training needs, maintain audit readiness, and ensure the development and maintenance of all required documents and procedures.
• You will be responsible for skill development, training, and coaching employees, effectively managing performance issues and corrective actions, and appreciating employee contributions, fostering a highly motivated and productive team.
• Additionally, you'll ensure organizational effectiveness, optimized resource management, and capability building for individual, departmental, and business objectives.
Qualifications
Educational qualification: A Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum work experience: 15 years of experience leading teams of mechanical, electrical, civil, instrumentation and automation engineers, handling maintenance and project activities in OSD, pharmaceuticals, or Biotech industry
Skills & attributes:
Technical Skills
• Comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical processes, quality management, safety practices, networking principles, resource management, and expertise in purchasing and cost management.
• Engineering and technical knowledge, emphasizing the ability to apply this expertise to pharmaceutical processes and equipment.
• Strong grasp of GMP, Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards and practices within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Proficiency in process automation, reliability-cantered maintenance, and the use of TPM and LDM tools.
• Knowledge of networking principles and resource management.
Creates TPM capabilities in front line through working with operations to identify Sources of Contamination, Hard to access and Hard to clean areas and enables a CLTI checklist in place for all equipment.
Works with line managers in operations to create AM/PM capabilities in Manufacturing and Packing operations.
Monitors the technical evaluation of new Projects / equipments and the progress of Projects / equipments installation & commissioning
Monitors breakdown maintenance, Preventive & Predictive maintenance and reviews/monitors Calibration Schedules
- Implements Energy conservation initiatives, world class maintenance and good engineering practices in order to ensure up keep of plant & facility
Creates an equipment wise breakdown to component and sub-component level, including FMEA and risk analysis for breakdowns and an inventory management process for spare parts.
- Facilitates & Reviews LDM, MMA Practices and implements Kaizen, OPL and 5S in work area.
Total Productive Maintenance (TPM): Utilize TPM strategies to enhance equipment reliability and performance
