The Role
Provide day-to-day site supervision for transmission line and substation construction, ensuring installations meet drawings, specifications and ITPs; coordinate across disciplines, monitor contractor progress, maintain site records, identify and close non-conformances, support HSE, assist claims/variations, and contribute to testing and commissioning readiness.
Summary Generated by Built In

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day site supervision as the Site Supervision Engineer (Electrical Engineer) for construction and erection of the transmission line and substation works.

• Supervise electrical installation activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and ITPs (including but not limited to HV equipment, earthing/grounding, cable works, terminations, and protection & control interfaces, as applicable).

• Coordinate closely with the Transmission Line Engineer, Substation Engineer and Civil Engineer to manage work fronts, interfaces, and sequencing (civil–electrical, primary–secondary, and contractor–client interfaces).

• Monitor contractor progress and productivity; verify quantities and percent complete against the schedule; identify constraints and escalate risks/issues early.

• Maintain accurate site records including daily site diary, labour/plant records, inspection checklists, test records, photos, and as-built mark-ups as required by the project.

• Undertake site verification of works completed by the contractor, including dimensional checks, installation verification, and witnessing inspections/tests at hold/witness points.

• Support quality management by promptly identifying non-conformances, raising NCRs/defect lists as required, and coordinating close-out with the contractor and project team.

• Support HSE compliance by ensuring safe work practices are followed on site, participating in toolbox talks and inspections, and escalating unsafe conditions/stop-work situations in line with project procedures.

• Assist with verification of contractor claims and variations with the procurement/commercial team by providing measurement sheets, progress evidence, and supporting documentation.

• Contribute to testing and commissioning readiness activities by confirming installation completeness, punch-listing, and supporting pre-commissioning checks and documentation compilation (as directed by the project team).

• Carry out other necessary site supervision and coordination duties required to meet project objectives.

Key Performance Indicators

·        Safety performance: All safety observations/close-outs completed within agreed timeframes.

·        Construction progress monitoring: weekly progress updates issued on time (e.g., by end of each week) with accurate % complete vs plan and key constraints/escalations logged.

·        Quality/ITP compliance: inspection and test plan (ITP) hold/witness points attended as required; NCRs raised within 24–48 hours of identification and closed out within agreed timeframes.

·        Site verification accuracy: field measurements/checks completed to plan; verification records are complete, signed, and traceable (e.g., daily reports, inspection checklists, photos).

·        Daily site records: daily site diary/report submitted on time with labour/plant, work fronts, weather, issues/risks, and HSE/quality notes (target: 100% compliance).

·        Coordination/support to engineers: requests from transmission line/substation/civil engineers actioned within agreed SLAs; technical queries and site issues escalated promptly with recommended options.

·        Contractor management: non-conformances, delays, and unsafe practices identified early and communicated formally; reduction in repeat issues month-on-month.

·        Claims/variation support: measurement sheets and supporting evidence provided to procurement/commercial team by agreed cut-off dates; disputed quantities/variations resolved with clear substantiation.

·        Variation control: potential variations identified and notified early (e.g., within 2 working days of becoming aware) with scope, cause, and preliminary cost/time impact.

·        Stakeholder communication: site coordination meetings attended; actions captured and closed within due dates (target: >90% on-time close-out).

·        Documentation quality: all submitted reports/records meet project document control requirements (correct templates, revision control, minimal rework/returns).
