Senior Social Development and Gender Specialist: Qualification and experience:
Post-Graduation in Sociology / other relevant field. At least 10 years of overall
experience in designing and implementing social assessment / development
programmes in large-scale infrastructure projects, including 5 years of project
implementation supervision and monitoring. The specialist should have working
experience on issues pertaining to vulnerable community, resettlement and
rehabilitation, religion and gender and a solid background on handling consultations with multiple stake holders, at least in one World Bank project. The Expert should be conversant in English
Role: As a part of the team, he/she will have the key responsibility of
ensuring effective review and integration of social safeguards during into the
designing and survey, implementation monitoring and supervision based on the
ESMP/ARAP, CESMP and work contract. He/she will also co-ordinate with other
Govt. Departments, in formation / mobilization / updating / of community-based
institution and their capacity building. He / she will also co-ordinate with all the
stakeholders in implementation of ARAP, its monitoring and review. She/he will
maintain a records/status of various social incidents, issues and submit
monthly/quarterly reports accordingly, follow up with the WPNG, various line
Departments of the Govt. of PNG, if required and the relevant World Bank Officials
and perform any other activities related to social issues of the project including
supervision and assisting contractors in implementation of CESMP.
