Job Description

As the Short-Term Trading & Flexibility Specialist you will be responsible for supporting the company's short-term energy and gas market activities, flexibility services, and market operations. The role focuses on optimizing the value of energy assets and flexibility resources, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), participation in balancing and ancillary service markets, and fulfillment of Balancing Service Provider (BSP) obligations. You will oversee nomination processes with system operators, maintain relationships with suppliers and dispatch departments of system operators, and perform a wide range of analyses and reporting related to this domain. 

Scope of Responsibilities: 

  • Execute and support short-term trading activities in power and gas markets, including day-ahead, intraday, and balancing markets. 

  • Monitor market conditions, prices, system constraints, and operational data to identify trading and flexibility opportunities. 

  • Support the commercial and operational optimization of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). 

  • Manage and coordinate flexibility services provided to Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and other market participants. 

  • Support the company's activities as a Balancing Service Provider (BSP), ensuring compliance with applicable market and regulatory requirements. 

  • Prepare bids and schedules for balancing, ancillary services, and flexibility markets. 

  • Maintain effective relationships with TSOs, market operators, exchanges, aggregators, and other external stakeholders. 

  • Support the implementation of new flexibility products, market mechanisms, and energy storage solutions. 

  • Ensure compliance with Polish energy regulations (URE, REMIT). 

  • Prepare daily trading reports and performance summaries. 

Qualifications

  • Experience: 

  • Minimum of 1 year in the field of power trading and dispatching operations. 

  • Practical knowledge of SPOT market trading, balancing position management, ancillary services, and flexibility markets. 

  • Experience working with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), demand response, flexibility services, or aggregation activities is an advantage. 

  • Familiarity with technical communication standards with system operators. 

  • Education: University degree in engineering, or mathematics or a related field. 

  • Work Availability: Willingness to work evenings, weekends and public holidays (fully remote) in the scope of short-term operations process supervision. 

  • Technical Skills: 

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret market data and operational information. 

  • Ability to work with trading platforms, market data systems, and operational monitoring tools. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Python, SQL, Power BI, or similar analytical tools is an advantage. 

  • Competencies: Ability to work independently, efficiently manage multiple concurrent tasks, operate under time pressure, make prompt decisions, and demonstrate high precision and attention to detail in analytical work. A proactive approach to identifying and implementing optimization and automation opportunities is highly valued. 

  • Languages: Fluent in Polish and communication grounds in English.
