About The Position |

 

The Shopping Newsletter Writer will join the Shopping Newsletter team and will ideate and write shopping newsletters and select News & Deals content for other newsletters across their vertical brands within the Dotdash Meredith portfolio like People, InStyle, Travel + Leisure, Real Simple, Better Homes & Gardens, Food & Wine, Allrecipes, and Health. They will have the opportunity to write newsletter content covering a wide variety of categories including fashion, beauty, home, food, celebrity and entertainment. This role requires someone who is passionate about writing, products, shopping and newsletters.

Job Functions

  • Able to write strong headlines and subject lines that drive high engagement/pageviews, promote eCommerce articles within the shopping newsletters and pick products for direct-to-retailer touts along with compelling copy that will convert

  • Collaborate with the News & Deals team on newsletter content and compelling imagery

  •  Collaborate with the email production team on email setup and proofing 

  • Collaborate with the Brand team to ensure touts and images are on brand and brand style guides are being met.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced organization

  • Highly adaptable and quick to learn processes

  • Use data and analytics to ensure we are aligning with consumer needs and trends 

  • Identify and carry out testing plans in collaboration with the growth team

  • Create affiliate links for newsletter touts

 

This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.

The Shopping Newsletter team manages, writes, and edits dedicated shopping newsletters for multiple brands. Additionally, we handle the creation and placement of direct-to-retailer content within branded editorial newsletters

85% Ideate and write shopping newsletters or editorial newsletter shopping touts

15% Use data and analytics to ensure newsletters are aligning with consumer needs and trends

 

The Role’s Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience. 

Experience:

  • Minimum 1-3 years experience as a writer or equivalent internship experience

 

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:

  • Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills

  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal stakeholders

  • Excellent time management skills for multiple projects with a range of scope

  • Good critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills are necessary. 

  • A degree or experience in journalism or related field.

  • An interest in writing for digital, and strong writing skills.

  • Must possess an understanding of basic Google doc functionality.

  • Experience with web analytics tools. Use data and revenue goals to inform and develop digital strategies.
