Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s working shipyard is hiring a reliable entry-level laborer to support daily operations while learning the basics of the marine trades. This is a great hands-on, outdoor job with opportunities to grow.
No experience? That’s okay—we’ll train you.
What You’ll Do
- Clean, organize and maintain the shipyard and work areas
- Sand, scrape, mask, and prep boats
- Move tools, materials, and equipment
- Support shipwrights and project teams
- Help keep projects moving and the yard running smoothly
- Jump in and help wherever needed

- Experience in marine work, construction, landscaping, or manual labor
- Interest in boats, woodworking, or mechanical work

- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to perform physical work (standing, bending, lifting)
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Good balance, coordination, and manual dexterity
- Comfortable working around water, boats, and equipment

The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to preserving and exploring the history, environment, and culture of the Chesapeake Bay region. It houses the world's largest collection of Chesapeake Bay watercraft and artifacts.
