SUMMARY
This position supports a vinyl siding extrusion operation by leading the set-up process of tooling used to develop vinyl siding products.
Pay Rate: $26.83/hr (zero to four years of service)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Ensure all tooling is ready for changeover.
- Provide support to machine operators and setup all changeovers (products/colours), PVC to ASA or ASA to PVC.
- Return tooling to maintenance department when changeover is complete. Add oil and check tooling to see if it needs any repairs. Place tag if tooling needs repair.
- Take initiative to see what improvements can be made to run extrusion line at all times. Highlight any issues with extrusion line and work with supervisor and lead hand to address the issue. Investigates and resolves product or process problems related to tooling/changeover/set-ups.
- Identifies and develops process control improvement opportunities.
- Communicates effectively, which includes the ability to listen, follow instructions, identify and record problems, and make recommendations to correct discrepancies
- Must be able to work as a machine operator when short staffed.
- Be involved with operator training program,
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including health and safety, as applicable.
- Perform other duties as required by Shift Supervisor.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Set-Up Operator must demonstrate competence in the appropriate job category (i.e. machine operator, etc.) before being classified as a Set-Up Operator.
- Must be able to work 12 hour Continental shift
- Good communication skills.
- Team player, strong interpersonal skills.
