The ServiceNow Engineer III is a senior technical contributor within ServiceNow platform team, responsible for advanced platform development, enterprise integrations, and ongoing optimization of the organization's ServiceNow environment. This role provides hands-on development expertise across scripting, integrations, and custom applications, and provides guidance to junior team members on the team. Partners with platform architects and the CMDB Manager on solution design to ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable implementations. The ideal candidate is a deeply technical, independent senior developer who can take on the platform's most complex build work while mentoring junior team members.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience: 10+ years of ServiceNow development/engineering experience, including advanced server-side and client-side scripting
Travel: 0-5%
Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Advanced Platform Development & Scripting
- Develop and enhance ServiceNow functionality using server-side and client-side scripting, including Glide API, Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, UI Actions, and Scheduled Jobs.
- Design, develop, and configure complex ServiceNow modules, including ITSM (Incident, Problem, Change, Request), Service Catalog, Flow Designer, and custom applications.
- Design and configure Service Catalogs, Catalog APIs, Order Guides, ACLs, Roles, and Workspaces.
- Build and customize Employee Center, portals, widgets, and UI Builder interfaces to support business requirements.
Integrations & Automation
- Create and maintain REST and Scripted REST APIs, Flow Designer flows, and Integration Hub automations connecting ServiceNow with enterprise systems.
- Design and support integrations with external systems, including SSO, discovery tools, Service Graph Connectors, and ServiceNow-to-ServiceNow e-bonding.
- Evaluate and implement AI-enabled automation use cases (e.g., Now Assist, Predictive Intelligence) to extend platform capabilities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to ServiceNow functionality, performance, and data integrity across environments.
Platform Support & Upgrades
- Support platform upgrades, instance cloning, and multi-instance environments, including regression testing and customization remediation.
- Partner with platform architects and the CMDB Manager on solution design to ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable implementations.
- Maintain working familiarity with Domain Separation and multi-tenant architecture considerations as they affect development work.
Code Quality & Mentorship
- Participate in and lead code reviews, enforcing coding standards and platform best practices.
- Mentor junior team members on scripting techniques, debugging, and platform conventions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for developed solutions, integrations, and customizations.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
