POSITION: Service Manager of Education
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Assists In the overall management of Education Services
SUPERVISES: Direct Support Professionals, Program Specialists
SALARY: $67,000-$68,640 annual salary 
STATUS: Exempt


 

CRITICAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Possesses the professional skills and abilities specific to the technical aspects of the position.

 

MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISION OF STAFF

  • Assist in the oversight and delivery of BI’s quality measurement program that evaluates service quality and efficiency as it relates to staff and persons served.
  • Participate in the interviewing, onboarding, and disciplinary processes.
  • Provide ongoing training, direction, and support to staff.
  • Support the oversight of personal and professional development opportunities for all staff, including facilitating and coordinating staff meetings, training sessions, and other relevant management meetings.
  • Ensure the provision of positive and constructive staff feedback, including regular check-ins and input in performance evaluations.

 

DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT SERVICE PLANS

  • Ensure each individual's personal choice is at the forefront of service plan delivery. Oversee the continuing development and implementation of person-centered services.
  • Perform the intake and onboarding tasks for new individuals coming into the Education program.
  • Provide direction and oversight to staff in vocational, volunteer, and community activities in alignment with the organization’s philosophy.
  • Oversight of curriculum development, implementation, and quality, on and offsite.
  • Oversight of quality community engagement opportunities.
  • Seek out and explore volunteer/paid work opportunities.
  • Support the oversight of Health Care Plans, including medication management and required documentation.
  • With the support of the Service Director(s) and Director of Education ensure the fiscal viability of the Education program.

 

KEEP RECORDS AND WRITE REPORTS

  • Provide training and direction to staff and ensure the accuracy of staff records (ADP, TripLog, Fleetio, etc).
  • Maintain the integrity of data across all platforms. Provide support to staff and ensure accuracy regarding record keeping for persons served.
  • Oversight of reports and file review checklist including conducting annual meetings with circles of support.
  • Act as the main point of contact for NBRC, circles of support, and community partnerships.
  • As needed, complete required documentation for BI’s health & safety program. 
  • Assist with investigation and reporting of incidents, including General Event, Accident Investigation, Workers’ Compensation, and others as required.

 

DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with persons served, peers, supervisors, and other staff, affiliated agency staff, and members of the community.
  • Communicate, both orally and in writing, service policies, objectives, accomplishments, and general information to staff, clients, families, and the public.
  • Be an ambassador to support BI’s company culture, values, and mission statements. 

 

TRANSPORTATION OF PERSONS SERVED

  • Oversee fleet and personal vehicle dispatch coverage, ensuring drivers feel supported and operations run efficiently. 
  • Support the oversight of BI’s fleet vehicle program by holding staff accountable for all procedures and policies related to transportation.

 

OTHER

  • Assist with the setup of various program spaces for activities (chairs, tables, etc.).
  • All BI working hours should be performed at a BI location, in the individual's home, or at a community site with the individual. Exceptions need to be pre-approved by your supervisor.
  • Provide support as a Direct Support Professional working in any BI program, including but not limited to providing in-home care, transportation, and in-community services for persons served.
  • May act as acting Service Director in the absence of department management.
  • Executes position-specific job duties and other duties as assigned at the discretion of BI.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent is required; College coursework in Special Education, Rehabilitation, Psychology, or a closely related field is preferred. 

EXPERIENCE

Experience working a minimum of 2 years with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is desirable. Good customer service skills and an interest in helping others pursue and achieve their best life are required. 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A physical condition that will permit frequent bending, squatting, turning, and lifting without injury.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle for a portion of your shift.
  • Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to assist individuals in wheelchairs.
  • Provide personal care to individuals, including assistance in the restroom and feeding.
  • Lift at least 40 pounds.
  • Clearance of pre-employment Functional Capacity Evaluation with no restrictions that cannot be reasonably accommodated without undue hardship.
