Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking Principal Industrial / Sr Principal Industrial Engineer. This position is in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.
What You’ll Get To Do:
Strong foundation in Industrial Engineering fundamentals (Production Intervals, Cycle Time, Takt Time, Standard Hour Content, Time Studies, EVMS, Continuous Improvement, Scheduling, Capacity Analysis, Facility Layouts)
Understand principles of capacity (efficiencies, standards, constraints, etc.)
Knowledge of manufacturing flows and how they interface with shop floor and Global Supply Chain
Ability to create Shop Operation Plans for production units and track daily shop floor performance.
Ability to create Recovery Schedules for the production floor.
Understand labor standard development and work measurement. Create standard hour content for new scope.
Perform shop floor time studies on manufacturing and test activities.
Work with functional team to understand scheduling requirements at implementation sites
Ability to create detailed manufacturing waterfall schedules with setbacks to independent demands
Utilize process improvement methodology (e.g., value stream mapping, employee engagement techniques, flow reduction, etc.)
Design and optimize Shop Floor/Facility Layouts
Understand principals of cost management (Earned Value, Milestone payments)
Conduct Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRAs) with Suppliers
Engage and collaborate with various product teams and functional organizations (from individual contributors to executive staff) to obtain, understand, and interpret manufacturing facilitation and scheduling requirements
Document, track and monitor problems to ensure a timely resolution
Utilize your strong organizational, planning and decision-making skills and the ability to work as a team member and with other members from different technical backgrounds
Ability to coordinate with larger teams at different site locations
Create and present technical briefings for upper management and technical leadership

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Principal Industrial Engineer: Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience; PhD with 1 years of relevant experience.
Sr Principal Industrial Engineer: Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 6 years of relevant experience; PhD with 4 years of relevant experience.
Required for Both Levels:
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time
Have a working knowledge and understanding of Industrial Engineering concepts (Production Intervals, Cycle Time, Takt Time, Standard Hour Content, Time Studies, EVMS, Continuous Improvement, Scheduling, Capacity Analysis, Facility Layouts)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Visio
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering
Experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
Experience working in Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development (EMD) phase of a program
Experience working in a Production environment and on a Shop Floor
Knowledge of SAP, MES, AutoCad, and FlexSim (or other discrete simulation programs) tools and concepts
Ability to create and automate Industrial Engineering performance metrics
Experience with Project Management and manufacturing schedules
Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, Project, and PowerPoint, and Visio
Skills Required
