Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manager Software Engineering 2. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the NGSP Sentinel Program.
What You'll Get to Do:
- Oversee the development of an instrumentation suite for real-time data capture during test events. Interface with stakeholders to ensure data capture system meets intended needs.
- Develop and provide test tool capabilities in support of system level test planning, integration, and test execution for multiple environments. This includes, but is not limited to, automated configuration management and software deployment.
- Ensure team tools/software follows NG and program requirements.
- Develop, and document Software Specifications and Verification Methodology.
- Participate in technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for system
- Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
- Interface with internal and external customers
- Apply Earned Value Management System (EVMS) metrics and best practices to ensure projects are completed on time and within the allocated budget
Manager duties to include:
- Demonstrate sound metrics management and the ability to effectively communicate complex technical issues and solutions.
- A successful track record of program performance, interpersonal team building skills, and cross-functional management experience is highly desired.
- Responsible for assessing staffing needs, current as well as projected and working with the respective team leads to address those needs.
- Work with the program software manager and leads in establishing personal program and functional goals as well as performing performance evaluations and merit adjustments for subordinates.
- Partner with engineering and program management peers to assure a balanced and efficient assignment of resources to support and achieve key mission priorities
- Partner with cross-business unit teams to ensure efficient use of tools at all levels of test.
- Coach, support, train, and motivate team members to ensure a high level of performance
- Collaborate with peers and direct management in resource planning and hiring

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation package.
You'll Bring These Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree in a related discipline and 6 years of relevant experience or an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of degree
- Must have an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain both DoD Top Secret security clearance and Special Access Program (SAP)
- 2+ years’ experience with phases of the software development life cycle and Agile software development.
- Successfully demonstrated experience putting a plan in place and then executing to that plan with a team
These Qualifications would be nice to have:
- Experience with IBM ELM (Jazz), NGSIL, IADS, and/or Nexxus
- Demonstrated experience interfacing with cross disciplined teams to accomplish a project/major task
- 1+ years leading a team, including mentoring and coaching
- Experience with SW coding in any capacity
- Familiarity with the Sentinel Software Development plan and SW release pipeline
- Strong experience leading teams and training others.
- Experience with individual contributor performance assessments
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
