Northrop Grumman Defense has an opening for a Systems Engineer (level 2)/Principal Systems Engineer (level 3) to join its team in Huntsville AL in support the Sentinel Program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.
What you will get to do:
The selected candidate will join our team of qualified individuals. This role will be a member of a team of system engineers who will continue to mature the interfaces products for the weapon system from Preliminary Design Review phase to a Critical Design Review and beyond. The role includes working in a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and/or supporting the development of at least the following key interface artifacts:
- Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
- Interface Requirements & Verification Plans
- Interface Logical and Physical Architecture
- Interface Nx CAD Models
- Interface Mentor Capital Wiring Diagrams
The successful candidate will demonstrate technical skills, organization, be an effective communicator, and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate. They will have an ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the program as required to accomplish assigned and team taskings.
Basic Qualifications:
Systems Engineer (Level 2):
- Bachelor's degree in STEM with 2 years of experience, 0 years of experience with master’s degree.
- Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher at the time of application.
- Must have the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need
- 1 year of experience working with Cameo or similar tools
- 1 year of experience working with DOORS or similar tools
Principal Systems Engineer (Level 3):
- Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5 years of related experience, 3 years of related experience with master’s degree, or 1 year of related experience with PhD.
- Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher at the time of application.
- Must have the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need
- 2 years of experience working with Cameo or similar tools
- 2 years of experience working with DOORS or similar tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 or more years of experience with technical review boards.
- 1 or more years of experience working with interfaces
- 1 or more years of experience leading/supporting trade studies or tiger teams
- 1 or more years of experience with Atlassian tools (Jira and Confluence) or similar
- 1 or more years of experience working with NX or similar tools

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $87,600.00 - $131,400.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
