The Senior Vice President, Product (SVP, Product) will report directly to the President and will be responsible for the growth and evolution of the Lexia product suite, comprising curriculum and professional learning solutions and our Voyager Sopris Learning branded offerings.  The SVP Product  will play a critical role in the future of Lexia. This role will require developing a deep understanding of the buyers, educators and students we serve to inform the development of the most effective solutions.   The key to success will hinge on building strong relationships with the Lexia leadership team, helping develop, drive, and deliver on strategies that enable our company’s mission to create opportunity for every student through the power of literacy education.

Job Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • As part of the Sr. Leadership Team within Lexia, you will help create the overarching vision and strategy for the company, preparing the organization for transformation and market disruption, while fostering a high-performing culture focused on implementing a product strategy that drives improving student literacy outcomes.

  • Manage a team of experienced product professionals overseeing; curriculum, assessment and professional learning pedagogy, product management, engineering, quality assurance and  design/UX.

  • Oversee the development and execution of department goals.

  • Collaborate and influence key stakeholders throughout the organization to prioritize initiatives and align resources to meet department and company goals.

  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate the success of product initiatives and communicate progress through a structured and transparent process.

Product Strategy and Innovation

  • Shape and drive a multi-year approach to growth, innovation and mission attainment by leveraging customer insights and anticipating market trends.

  • Translate product strategy into mission success by setting and achieving bold user impact targets.

  • Establish and communicate Lexia’s product vision and strategy across the organization.

  • Create product strategy that is grounded in research-based best practices and equitable access to learning for all students.

  • Develop vision and resources to leverage emerging technologies including artificial intelligence to drive user engagement, efficiency of implementation, and improved learning outcomes.

Product Development and Technology Roadmap

  • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation and prioritization to execution and release.

  • Maintain a detailed quarterly, annual and long range roadmap that outlines the features, enhancements, and initiatives to be delivered over time.

  • Oversee product and technology roadmaps to ensure alignment and optimal resource allocation to achieve business results.

  • Balance internal and outsourced resources to manage cost and create flexibility to meet deadlines and budget requirements

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders across Lexia and Cambium Learning Group.

  • Collaborate  with members of the Strategic Leadership Team, including Learning and Research,  Customer Success, Revenue, Strategy and Operations to meet long term objectives.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate technologies, and pedagogical approaches to prioritize opportunities, and drive educational impact.

Change Management Leadership

  • Lead and manage organizational change within the product team as the business scales and changes to meet evolving market needs.

  • Ensure smooth transitions and employee well being through continuous alignment of product strategies with business needs.

Continuous Learning and Development

  • Stay informed through reading, listening, engaging in activities inside and outside of the industry to leverage insights on market dynamics, customer needs and user experience.

  • Relationship Management: Managing diverse teams, fostering relationships with experts, and facilitating discussions.

  • Customer Sensitivity: Understanding your customer's needs, desires and any issues they face to create better product experiences and ensure product success.

  • Passion for educational equity and a commitment to making a positive impact on student and teachers’ lives.

  • Technical Skills: Familiar with agile, lean practices, and UX/UI design principles and have excellent technical insight to make informed decisions.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as computer science, engineering, business administration, or education.

  • Advanced degrees (MBA) or certifications in product management, education technology, or related fields is beneficial.

  • 10+ years experience in Product Leadership, with a track record of managing and growing complex, multi-product portfolios, preferably in the k-12 education market.

  • Experience in SaaS product management leadership, with a focus on driving growth.

  • Depth of knowledge of product development methodologies, emerging technologies.

  • Demonstrated understanding of DEIB best practices, evolving societal needs, and being open to learning from experiences.
