Pay Range:$38.93 - $54.76 The Senior Unified Communications Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, managing, and supporting SEARHC’s unified communications infrastructure. This position requires a deep understanding of unified communications technologies and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will be proactive in learning new technologies, adaptable to changing methodologies, and will participate in critical system support structures alongside other IT departments.SEARHC is a non-profit health consortium which serves the health interests of the residents of Southeast Alaska. Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job
Manage and support the unified communications environment, including but not limited to VoIP telephony systems, video conferencing platforms, instant messaging, collaboration tools, and unified messaging systems
Execute project-related tasks related to unified communications initiatives.
Participate and occasionally lead team meetings, team-building activities, and other opportunities to strengthen the department.
Maintain and expand expertise in unified communications technologies through ongoing education and cross-training.
Develop and maintain technical standards for the unified communications environment and create documentation for processes and procedures.
Collaborate with leadership and team members to develop SLA’s, Change Management, RCA documentation, and documentation for both engineering and front-line support (Procedures, KB Articles)
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues related to unified communications systems.
Monitor system performance and optimize the environment to ensure high levels of user productivity.
Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, maintaining a professional manner when interacting with individuals at all professional levels.
Assist management in identifying opportunities for process improvement within the department.
Frequent travel to various locations may be required.
Maintain detailed and accurate records related to unified communications system management.
Create, follow, and maintain documentation and checklists to ensure efficiency and consistency.
Proficient with unified communications technologies.
Familiarity with Windows Server, Linux, and virtualization as required to maintain a Unified Communications environment.
Familiarity with enterprise-grade system monitoring technologies.
Other Notes
Occasionally work after hours, weekends, holidays, or non-standard business hours as needed.
Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required
- High School Diploma and demonstrates the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the key responsibilities of the position.
- BS in Information Systems or related field preferred.
- Cisco or competing vendor certification preferred.
Experience Required
- 8-10 years managing IT systems.
- 5 years’ experience managing PBX or Unified Communications platforms.
Knowledge of
- Working knowledge of office automation products and computer peripherals.
- Knowledge of enterprise-level technologies including AD/LDAP, enterprise anti-virus, enterprise backup systems, and enterprise monitoring/reporting systems.
- Familiarity with ITIL, HIPAA, HITECH, and other standards applicable to healthcare IT.
