Our client is a leading organization in the banking and financial services sector, seeking an experienced professional to join their team.
POSITION OVERVIEW
A Senior Training Expert to lead the Learning & Development (L&D) workstream of a large-scale Affluent Banking transformation program, delivered for a major Vietnamese bank in partnership with a leading global consulting firm.
This is the most senior individual-contributor role in NTP delivery organisation, and it is deliberately hands-on. The successful candidate personally authors the training curriculum for Relationship Managers (RMs), RM Managers, and branch leadership; designs and runs the Train-the-Trainer (TTT) program that certifies the Client's internal RM Coach pool; stands in front of the classroom for senior branch audiences; and produces the complete playbook and deliverable set that is formally handed over to the Client. In parallel, the role owns the L&D workstream plan and leads a small team of RM Coaches across Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The role sits onsite in Hanoi alongside the consulting partner and the Client's teams, with regular travel to branches nationwide during pilot and rollout waves. Success is measured not by training days delivered, but by whether the Client's own trainers and RMs can sustain the new operating model without us.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY
L&D Workstream Leadership
- Take full ownership of the end-to-end Learning & Development workstream, including scope definition, planning, resource allocation, delivery schedules, and the quality of all deliverables provided to the client.
- Lead and develop a small team of Relationship Manager Coaches across multiple locations, establishing performance standards, allocating responsibilities, and reviewing the quality of team outputs.
- Represent the L&D workstream in program governance meetings with the consulting partner and senior client stakeholders, including executive-level steering forums.
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for all L&D commitments within the agreed engagement scope.
Training Needs Analysis & Capability Framework
- Conduct comprehensive Training Needs Analysis across Relationship Managers, Relationship Manager leaders, and branch management populations using performance data, field observations, and stakeholder interviews.
- Develop a competency framework for affluent-banking Relationship Managers covering required knowledge, skills, behaviours, proficiency levels, and assessment criteria.
- Identify capability gaps and design structured learning journeys and curriculum architectures tailored to different roles and levels of seniority.
- Ensure the capability framework is aligned with the consulting partner’s target operating model, sales processes, and KPI framework.
Curriculum Design & Training Content Development
- Design end-to-end training curricula and detailed lesson plans for Relationship Managers, Relationship Manager leaders, and branch-level management.
- Develop complete training materials, including facilitator guides, participant workbooks, presentation decks, role-play scenarios, case studies, job aids, assessments, and evaluation tools.
- Ensure training content reflects practical affluent-banking activities, including needs-based selling, portfolio reviews, client discovery, wealth management products, deposits, insurance solutions, investment funds, bonds, cards, lending products, and Relationship Manager portfolio management practices.
- Adapt global training content to the local market context and develop bilingual materials where required.
- Design a phased training calendar and delivery plan aligned with pilot implementation and subsequent branch rollout.
Train-the-Trainer Design & Certification
- Design a comprehensive Train-the-Trainer program to establish the client’s internal pool of Relationship Manager Coaches and trainers.
- Develop complete Train-the-Trainer materials, including trainer certification curricula, facilitation standards, coaching methodologies, observation rubrics, and structured feedback protocols.
- Personally facilitate Train-the-Trainer cohorts, assess trainer candidates against defined certification requirements, and certify candidates who meet the required standards.
- Establish recertification processes, quality assurance standards, and trainer performance monitoring mechanisms to maintain training quality following handover.
Classroom Facilitation & Leadership Enablement
- Facilitate training programs for branch leadership and Relationship Manager management audiences, including sessions involving senior stakeholders.
- Deliver Train-the-Trainer cohorts and act as the master trainer and quality benchmark for the certified internal trainer pool.
- Provide on-the-job coaching, live observation, and post-training reinforcement throughout pilot and rollout phases.
- Adapt facilitation approaches for senior audiences, effectively manage resistance to change, and build stakeholder commitment to the new operating model.
Playbook Production & Knowledge Handover
- Develop the Relationship Manager Sales Playbook and the complete L&D deliverable package in accordance with high professional consulting standards.
- Manage document governance, including version control, review and approval workflows, and final client acceptance of deliverables.
- Ensure all materials are original, appropriately owned under the engagement, and free from third-party licensing or intellectual property restrictions.
- Design and execute a structured knowledge-transfer plan, including LMS-ready content packaging and formal handover to the client’s internal training function.
Measurement, Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and manage a training effectiveness measurement framework covering participant reaction, learning outcomes, behavioural change, and business impact.
- Connect learning outcomes with relevant business and program KPIs, including assets under management growth, deposit performance, product penetration, and Relationship Manager productivity.
- Prepare regular reports on L&D progress, training coverage, certification status, and effectiveness for program leadership, client stakeholders, and the consulting partner.
- Establish structured feedback mechanisms and continuously refine training content between rollout waves based on classroom observations and actual field performance.
- Coordinate closely with the client’s HR and Learning & Development teams to ensure alignment with internal academy standards, budgets, governance requirements, and accreditation processes.
Requirements
Experience & Education
- Minimum 12 years of professional experience, including at least 8 years in a dedicated Learning & Development, training, or capability-building role within banking or financial services.
- Proven experience at Head of Training, Training Centre Manager, Academy Director, or an equivalent leadership level, with accountability for a training curriculum portfolio and team management rather than classroom delivery alone.

- Strong Train-the-Trainer experience, including designing certification programs and developing and certifying internal trainer or coaching pools.
- Hands-on experience developing complete training curricula and playbooks from the ground up, supported by a strong portfolio of personally developed training materials.

- Candidates should disclose any licensed training programs or proprietary courseware they are accredited to deliver to ensure all materials developed under the engagement remain free from third-party intellectual property restrictions.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in instructional design methodologies such as ADDIE or SAM, together with a solid understanding of adult learning principles, learning taxonomies, and blended capability-development models.
- Excellent command of facilitation techniques across classroom, workshop, and virtual learning environments.

- Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to work directly with international consulting partners, professional content, senior counterparts, and governance forums.
- Willingness to be based in the primary project location and travel to branches nationwide during pilot and rollout phases.
