Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to join our established transportation engineering team in Atlanta, GA. This role is ideal for an experienced traffic engineer who enjoys leading technical design, shaping analysis approaches, and contributing expertise across a wide range of traffic engineering projects. You’ll work closely with a respected group of engineers on meaningful studies and design efforts that support our client's real‑world transportation decisions. A hybrid work option is available.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Lead day-to-day traffic engineering production, assigning tasks and maintaining schedule and quality to deliver traffic analysis, forecasting, safety studies, traffic simulations, and conceptual designs
- Perform detailed QA/QC reviews of deliverables prior to submittals
- Support the development of technical approaches on projects
- Ensure compliance with GDOT standards and requirements
- Develop and track scope, schedule, and budget; proactively identify and communicate risks or issues to the PM
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers to support team performance and development
- Coordinate effectively with clients and subconsultants
- Represent AECOM at stakeholder meetings and public engagements.
- Collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines on larger projects that require traffic engineering services
Qualifications
Minimum :
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related discipline
- 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Georgia or the ability to obtain within 6 months
Preferred:
- 12 years of relevant experience
- Experience in an applicable industry and GDOT standards, regulations, and guidelines, including MUTCD and traffic analysis software.
- Experience and training with the GDOT Plan Development Process
- Experience with the GDOT Pedestrian and Streetscape Guide and similar documents
- Experience producing technical memos and reports
- Experience presenting to clients and/or stakeholders
