We are currently recruiting for a Senior Trade Compliance Specialist to sit within the EU Finance Team but will be based in Puttershoek, to be close to our customs import operations in the Netherlands (Rotterdam).
You will be reporting into the European Trade Compliance Manager based in the UK and working closely with the logistics and finance teams and stakeholders from across the global business.
Our team mission is to ensure full adherence to international trade regulations, optimize shipment lead times, and ensure accurate duty payments aligned with the latest EU customs regulations and free trade agreements. We manage and connect end-to-end information flows, from production origins to import customs clearance in final destination markets.
The ideal person will be a specialist in the field, having fashion clothing experience and continuously keeping up to date of industry best practice, as well the latest compliance changes.
What you will be responsible for
End to end Import customs-related process & continuous improvement.
Selecting appropriate HS code & appropriate preferential treatments such as FTA, GSP, etc. together with customs brokers and exporters to confirm items are qualified.
Reviewing customs value based on commercial transactions and physical product flow
Communicating with customs brokers, customs authorities in the EU
Staying up to date with all regulation changes (e.g. CBAM, EUDR,..)
Conducting comprehensive customs health checks & audits
Maintaining a Customs Compliance Manual as live documentation for proof of procedural checks
Support IT projects related to customs compliance, including system enhancements
Skills, Experience and Attributes:
Minimum 5 years of experience in trade-related operation (with a focus on import customs declaration)
Strong working knowledge of customs compliance (rules of origin, HS classification, customs valuation, etc.)
Knowledge of Bonded warehouse customs operations
In depth understanding of supply chain and the ability to identify and solve issues
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the business. Including communication with customs, forwarders, brokers, exporters, Global Headquarter in Japan linking in with a wide range of other departments
Business-level English proficiency, with the ability to explain ideas clearly in writing and speaking
