Summary

The Senior Software Test Design Engineer will partner with System and Software Design team in a definition of test requirements, test, specifications, test environment/tools, test software implementation and execution during the product development life cycle. The products the SW Tester would work on are complex embedded medical devices developed in alignment with required medical standards. It is ranging from application software hosted on Linux or Window embedded OS down to the hardware abstraction software, firmware and finally hardware. Focus on test automation and proper technical documentation are important aspects for the position. Senior SW test engineer will coordinate closely with team on team’s and personal ability to estimate the effort and execute the work.

Primary Responsibilities

· Participate in creation of the engineering requirements and design specification by providing verifier’s point of view to the SW design engineers.

· Develop, design and document formal software test requirements, plans and procedures.

· Creation of manual but mostly automated test case. Implement test cases using basic C# language to make them automatically executable.

· Run test cases through our automated test platform.

· Record any non-compliance in the defect tracking database and collaborate with developers to reproduce and investigate issues.

· Research and evaluate suitable test tools and test methods.

· Create and/or maintain automated test environments.

· Make sure all the features, issues and tests are documented in compliance with internal processes.

·  Actively participate in the identification and assimilation of the best practices in software testing.

· Possibility of Planning, coordinating, and reporting on behalf of agile team. Driving the team to meet the commitments.

General Tasks

· Coordinate with software developers on requirements and testing environment to ensure testing can be executed efficiently.

· Drive definition of testing strategies and complete testing (preparation of test cases and executing them) per software requirements as needed during product lifecycle.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

· Experience with software test/verification processes and methods.

· Deeper experience or software test design and implementation.

· At least mid-level knowledge of C# is desired or deeper knowledge of C++ or other languages with willingness to learn C# for test automation.

· At least Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation or similar field.

· Good verbal and written English are must and German is a plus.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

· Experience with embedded systems and hardware/software interaction is a plus.

· Experience with RTOS is a plus. Knowledge of functional safety standards or other industrial safety standards is a plus.

· Knowledge of hardware-in-loop testing is a plus.

· Experience with agile processes or specifically Azure DevOps is a plus.
