Title: Senior Telecommunication Engineer

Key Consideration:
Preference will be given to candidates holding valid OPITO-approved T-BOSIET/BOSIET and H₂S certifications with a minimum validity of six months. The selected candidate will be required to travel ADNOC offshore on a rotational basis to conduct site surveys, support brownfield assessments, verify existing installations, and obtain project-specific engineering data necessary for design and execution.
Job Purpose
- Provide technical leadership for telecommunication systems within FEED and Detail Engineering projects in the Oil & Gas sector.
- Define telecommunication design basis, standards, and deliverables to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.
- Oversee integration with electrical, Instrumentation and multi-discipline interfaces; ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor engineers, drive quality and schedule adherence, and ensure robust telecommunication deliverables across the project phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the engineering, development, and implementation of telecommunication systems, including Optical Fiber Communication Systems, LAN and Structured Cabling Systems, Telephone Systems, TETRA Systems, Microwave Radio Systems, Public Address and General Alarm (PAGA) Systems, Access Control Systems (ACS), Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Systems, Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems (PIDS), and Entertainment Systems in accordance with client and project requirements.
- Participate in offshore and onshore site visits for data gathering, field verification, brownfield assessments, and preparation of detailed site survey reports.
- Coordinate and participate in OEM system adequacy assessments, review study findings, and approve adequacy survey reports to ensure technical compliance and suitability.
- Coordinate and participate in third-party vendor workshops and technical studies for CCTV, PAGA, Radio Coverage, and related systems; review and approve study reports and engineering recommendations.
- Prepare and review FEED and Detailed Engineering deliverables including design basis documents, technical specifications, equipment datasheets, engineering calculations, block diagrams, location layouts, cable routing drawings, interconnection diagrams, scopes of work, RFQs, and material requisitions.
- Perform technical bid evaluations and review, comment on, and approve vendor documents and engineering submissions.
- Conduct site surveys, equipment selection assessments, and vendor coordination activities to support successful installation, integration, testing, commissioning, and operation of telecommunication systems.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams including electrical, instrumentation, and project engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and optimized system design solutions.
- Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews including plot plan reviews, 3D model reviews, constructability reviews, and model validation activities.
- Interface with clients, vendors, licensors, and third-party stakeholders to ensure full compliance with project requirements and timely resolution of technical issues.
- Support preparation, monitoring, and control of discipline budgets, schedules, resource plans, and project execution strategies to achieve key project milestones.
- Ensure compliance with international standards, industry best practices, client specifications, and regional regulations including IEC, IEEE, ITU, NFPA, and oil and gas telecommunications standards.
- Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting complex engineering issues, performing risk assessments, evaluating design alternatives, and guiding project teams toward effective solutions.
- Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures, engineering standards, drawing requirements, technical specifications, datasheets, and procurement documentation.
- Remain current with emerging telecommunication technologies, digital transformation initiatives, and industry advancements, and recommend value-added and innovative solutions to enhance project performance.
Experience
- Minimum 12 years of overall experience, including at least 8 years of dedicated telecommunication design engineering experience within the oil and gas industry, covering both onshore and offshore facilities in the Middle East.
- ADNOC EPC and/or PMC project experience will be considered a distinct advantage.
- Demonstrated track record in delivering telecommunication system design, integration, and implementation for FEED and Detailed Engineering projects.
- Proven experience supporting brownfield and greenfield developments across oil and gas production, processing, and infrastructure facilities.
- Strong familiarity with ADNOC engineering standards, specifications, project execution procedures, and telecommunication system requirements.
- Extensive exposure to offshore production facilities, wellhead platforms, central processing facilities, utilities, and associated infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
- Professional memberships and relevant certifications such as PE, Chartered Engineer or equivalent industry-recognized qualifications will be considered advantageous.
Technical Skills
- Strong technical expertise in the design, specification, and integration of Telecommunication and Security Systems for oil and gas facilities.
- Extensive knowledge of hazardous area requirements, including equipment selection, certification (IECEx/ATEX), and installation practices for classified areas.
- Thorough understanding of applicable international standards and codes including IEC, ITU, ISO, IEEE, NFPA, TIA, EN, and operator-specific standards such as ADNOC.
- Telecom and Operational Technology (OT) Systems: SDH/PDH, DWDM, Microwave Radio, Fiber Optic Networks (OSP/ISP), VSAT, TETRA, DMR, LTE-P, Private 5G Networks, PAGA Systems, CCTV Systems (including VMS and video analytics), ACS, PIDS, IP Telephony, Unified Communications, and Time Synchronization Systems.
- Strong understanding of FEED and Detailed Engineering deliverables, Management of Change (MOC) processes, change control procedures, and document management systems.
- Proven capability in performing and reviewing Radio, CCTV, and PAGA coverage studies to meet client operational and safety objectives.
