CSCS TXPOSITION SUMMARY:
The Sr. Technologist, Workday Sr. Integration & Extend Developer is a senior technical role within the Workday Center of Excellence (COE), responsible for designing, building, and maintaining integrations and Workday Extend applications that connect Workday with the broader enterprise technology ecosystem.
This role operates within an enterprise product and platform governance model, executing integration development and application delivery aligned to defined architecture standards, control frameworks, and product roadmap priorities. Executes within defined architectural guardrails, raises risks and technical constraints and ensures quality, security, and performance of integrations.
The Sr. Technologist serves as a hands-on engineering expert, translating technical design specifications into scalable, secure, and high-performing integrations and applications, while ensuring adherence to enterprise integration standards and data governance requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Integration Development & Configuration
Design and build inbound and outbound integrations using:
Workday Studio
Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB)
Core Connectors
Workday REST/SOAP APIs
Workday Orchestrate
Develop and maintain data transformation logic including:
XML, XSLT, JSON processing
Data mapping and validation rules
Execute integrations aligned to:
Approved technical design specifications
Architecture standards and patterns
Workday Extend Development
Design and build custom Workday Extend applications and UI components
Develop user interfaces that enhance Workday functionality and user experience
Ensure Extend solutions meet:
Performance standards
Security requirements
Maintainability guidelines
Testing & Quality Assurance
Perform unit testing, smoke testing, and support integration regression testing
Validate:
Data accuracy
Transformation logic
Error handling and edge cases
Ensure all integrations meet quality standards prior to deployment
System Monitoring & Support
Monitor integration health and performance across environments
Troubleshoot integration failures and identify root causes
Implement fixes and improvements to enhance reliability and scalability
Support third-party integrations and coordinate issue resolution with external systems
Data Transformation & Governance
Ensure integrations comply with:
Data security standards
Data privacy regulations
Enterprise data governance policies
Validate data integrity across:

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Technical Skills
Workday Integration Development: Expert-level proficiency in Workday integration tools including Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Core Connectors, Workday REST/SOAP APIs, Orchestrate, and Document Transformation.
Workday Extend Development: Experience designing and building Workday Extend applications, including custom UI components, business logic, and user interaction workflows that extend Workday capabilities.
Data Transformation & Mapping: Strong experience with XML, XSLT, JSON, and data transformation logic; ability to design and implement complex data mappings, validations, and transformation rules across systems.
Integration Architecture & Patterns: Understanding of integration design patterns (batch, real-time, event-driven) and ability to implement scalable, maintainable solutions aligned to enterprise architecture standards.
Protocols & Security: Hands-on experience with integration protocols and security standards including SFTP, HTTPS/REST, AS2, OAuth 2.0, PGP encryption, and secure credential management.
DevSecOps & Engineering Practices: Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, code review practices, and secure development methodologies applied to integration delivery.
Integration Monitoring & Performance Optimization: Ability to monitor integration health, troubleshoot failures, and optimize performance for reliability, scalability, and SLA adherence.
Data Governance & Compliance: Experience applying data security, privacy regulations, audit controls, and governance standards within integration pipelines and data exchanges.

Cross-Functional Partnership: Experience working across HR, Finance, P2P, Technology, and third-party vendors to support end-to-end system integration and data flow requirements.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIREMENTS:
5+ years of Workday integration development experience
Hands-on experience with:
Workday Studio
EIB
Core Connectors
Workday APIs
Experience building Workday Extend applications
Strong experience with:
Data transformation (XML, XSLT, JSON)
Integration design and troubleshooting
Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and tools
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
CERTIFICATIONS:
Workday Pro Certification – Integrations (required)
Workday Pro Certification – Extend (preferred)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position requires little to moderate physical activity. Handling of average weight objects up to 15 pounds; occasional standing or walking; frequently at a keyboard, workstation, or desk.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically in a normal office administrative environment involving minimal exposure to physical risks. Hybrid / remote-eligible schedule available.
