Entrata’s Education department is looking for a Senior Technical Writer based in our Lehi, UT HQ. As part of the Education Content team, you will be responsible for the technical documentation we provide our clients to support their learning of Entrata software and internal documentation of processes, best practices, etc. The Senior Technical Writer is also a bridge between other Technical Writers and Education leadership. This is an essential position in helping stay in front of product knowledge - which spans across 60+ different products. You will work with a group of Product Managers, Customer Support, and Product Education Trainers to ensure that documentation is updated in a timely and accurate manner.

Responsibilities will include

  • Maintain a deep understanding of Entrata’s products and services in order to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content.
  • Write user-friendly articles that meet the needs of the target audience, turning insights into language that sets our users up for success.
  • Deliver content for online documentation, video tutorials, on-screen text (i.e., UI, tooltips, and labels). 
  • Partner with internal departments including Product, Development, UX & Education in order to document software workflows correctly and succinctly. 
  • Assist the Manager of Product Education Content to onboard and provide ongoing support to the technical writers 
  • Coordinate work with others on the Content Team.
  • Lead meetings with product managers, provide status updates, and drive accountability.
  • Assist in defining and implementing standards, style guides, and terminology. 
  • Help maintain the Style Guide and Standard Operating Procedures to keep information current.
  • Provide regular QA feedback on the usability and technical quality of technical writers
  • Lead special projects and support the team if the Manager is out or traveling.
  • Adhere to a strict content audit schedule and new release schedule while meeting aggressive deadlines.
  • Assist with the overall help center strategy and content management discussions and vision.
  • Adhere to documentation style guides and when appropriate make recommendations on how to improve standards.
  • Perform peer reviews for quality, usability, and adherence to established styles while also having a sharp eye for self-evaluation. 
  • Consult with departments on writing best practices and documentation solutions beyond product documentation (Help files, KB articles, and Release Notes), such as SOPs, FAQs, and documentation of processes and best practices.

Minimum qualfications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Communication, Technical Writing, English, or other related field
  • 3-4 years of experience in technical writing
  • Excellent communication skills that lead to positive team/collaboration experiences for all involved
  • Ability to patiently coach, mentor, and influence others both on the team and outside of the team
  • Quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
  • Excellent oral, written, analytic, and organizational skills 
  • Comfortable working independently and being self motivated and also part of a team
  • High EQ and ability to connect with others easily
  • Positive, self-motivated, self-managed, and a finisher
  • Comfortable with a variety of tools, such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, HTML, CSS, InDesign, LMS, and Zendesk to create, maintain, and host content.
  • Experience creating online help files, knowledge base articles, and release notes for software products

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Technical Communication, Technical Writing or English
  • 5-6+ years of experience in technical writing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, CSS, HTML, Zendesk, and Microsoft Writing Style Guide
  • Familiarity with SaaS and agile development
  • Experience in the multi-family industry
  • Expert at creating online help files, knowledge base articles, and release notes for software products
  • Comfortable with giving and receiving constructive feedback
  • Excellent time management skills
