Job Title: Senior Technical Support Engineer - Simulation (EMEA)

Location:  Frankfurt, Germany (Hybrid)

The job  

In this role, you have the opportunity to make a real difference for some of the world's leading process industry companies every day. You will join a talented team of engineers who are passionate about helping customers get the most out of AVEVA's Simulation software.

As a trusted technical advisor, you will work closely with customers to solve complex technical challenges, deliver training and consulting services and support strategic evaluations. Whether you are troubleshooting a critical issue, mentoring colleagues, or presenting at customer workshops, your expertise will directly influence customer success and satisfaction.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer (Chemical/Process/ other related fields) who combines strong technical capabilities with a passion for problem solving, customer engagement, and continuous learning.

 

Key responsibilities 

  • Support customers in their day-to-day use of AVEVA Simulation products, including AVEVA Process Simulation, PRO/II and Dynamic Simulation, owning cases end-to-end with clear and timely communication.
  • Build trusted relationships with customers by understanding their business objectives, operational challenges and requirements, proactively identifying opportunities to increase value from AVEVA solutions.
  • Lead complex troubleshooting activities, reproduce and analyze software issues, identify root causes, and collaborate with Product Management and R&D teams to drive product improvements.
  • Deliver customer training courses, workshops, and technical presentations both remotely and on-site across the EMEA region.
  • Support software evaluations, proof-of-concept activities, and pre-sales engagements by providing technical expertise and demonstrating simulation capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge articles, best practice guides, and customer-facing documentation to improve knowledge sharing and self-service capabilities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the ongoing development of team capabilities through coaching, knowledge transfer, and technical leadership.
  • Represent AVEVA at customer meetings, user groups, conferences, seminars, and industry events.

 

Essential requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience within the process industries, including process design, operations, simulation, consulting, or technical support.
  • Fluent German and English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in a structured and methodical manner.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple activities in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across Germany and the wider EMEA region.

 

Desired skills 

  • Experience using process simulation software such as AVEVA APS, PRO/II, Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, UniSim, gPROMS, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with industrial sectors such as refining, petrochemicals, chemicals, energy transition, sustainability, carbon capture, hydrogen, or renewables.
  • Experience delivering technical training, workshops, or customer presentations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Empathy and emotional intelligence, with the ability to understand customer frustration, respond with patience, and turn difficult situations into positive experiences.
  • A customer-focused team player with a positive, problem-solving mindset who always goes the extra mile.
