Established in Bangalore in 2022, Mercari India serves as a crucial technology hub for the Mercari Group. Role Overview

Mercari India is looking for an experienced Senior Technical Recruiter to help scale our engineering organization and strengthen our talent acquisition capabilities. In this role, you will partner closely with hiring managers, engineering leaders, and stakeholders across India and Japan to attract, engage, and hire exceptional technology talent.

You will play a critical role in building high-performing engineering teams across a wide range of domains, including Backend, Frontend, Mobile, Infrastructure, Security, Data, AI/ML, and Product Engineering. Beyond recruiting, you will contribute to employer branding, recruitment strategy, process optimization, and talent market intelligence to support Mercari India’s growth journey.

This position requires a highly consultative recruiter who combines strong technical hiring expertise, data-driven decision-making, and a passion for delivering outstanding candidate and stakeholder experiences.


RequirementsWhat You Will DoEnd-to-End Technical Recruiting
  • Own and drive the full recruitment lifecycle for technical roles, from intake discussions through offer negotiation and onboarding support.
  • Partner with hiring managers to define hiring strategies, candidate profiles, interview processes, and hiring plans.
  • Build and manage strong candidate pipelines through sourcing, networking, referrals, and market mapping.
  • Assess candidate qualifications, motivations, and cultural alignment through structured screening and evaluation.
  • Manage candidate communications and ensure an exceptional candidate experience throughout the hiring process.
Stakeholder Management
  • Act as a trusted talent advisor to engineering leaders and hiring managers.
  • Provide market insights on talent availability, competitive intelligence, and hiring challenges.
  • Influence hiring decisions using data, talent market expertise, and recruiting best practices.
  • Facilitate calibration discussions and support interviewers in maintaining high hiring standards.
Sourcing Excellence
  • Develop innovative sourcing strategies to attract top engineering talent across India.
  • Leverage LinkedIn Recruiter, talent communities, social platforms, referrals, events, and direct outreach to identify high-quality candidates.
  • Build proactive talent pipelines for critical and future hiring needs.
  • Maintain strong relationships with passive candidates and nurture talent communities.
Recruitment Operations & Process Improvement
  • Track and analyze recruiting metrics such as pipeline conversion, time-to-fill, source effectiveness, and offer acceptance rates.
  • Identify opportunities to improve recruiting processes, candidate experience, and operational efficiency.
  • Drive recruiting projects related to interview excellence, employer branding, diversity hiring, and talent attraction.
  • Ensure recruiting practices comply with company policies and applicable employment regulations.
What You BringRequired Qualifications
  • 7+ years of recruiting experience, including significant experience hiring for technical and engineering roles across all levels.
  • Proven success in hiring across multiple engineering functions such as EM, Backend, Frontend, Mobile, Platform, Infrastructure, AI/ML, or Product Engineering.
  • Strong sourcing expertise with demonstrated ability to attract passive technical talent.
  • Experience partnering directly with engineering managers and senior technology leaders.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering concepts, technical skill sets, and technology hiring landscapes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Experience working with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and recruitment tools.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to leverage recruiting data to drive decisions.
  • Ability to manage multiple searches simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience recruiting for product-led technology companies, internet businesses, or global engineering organizations.
  • Experience standing up recruiting automation or AI-assisted workflows.
  • Exposure to recruiting for Senior Engineering managers, architect, AI/ML, Platform Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, or Product Management functions.
  • Experience building recruitment processes and scaling organizations during periods of rapid growth.
  • Experience collaborating with global stakeholders, particularly in cross-cultural environments.
  • Familiarity with Workable or similar ATS platforms.

With the technological capabilities and extensive user and information bases built through Mercari, we launched the Merpay mobile payment service in 2019, the B2C marketplace Mercari Shops in October 2021, and the cryptoasset exchange service Mercoin in March 2023.
