Senior Technical Architect(Full Stack)

AbhiBus is a leading online bus-ticketing platform that aggregates ticket inventory from over 4,000 bus operators - including major State Road Transport Corporations (SRTCs), covering more than 3.5 lakh (350,000+) routes across India. The AbhiBus website and apps allow users to check amenities provided by bus operators, compare booking fares, check bus timings in the searched route, live tracking of the bus before arrival, cancellation protection options and other facilities. It is the official ticketing partner for several state road transport corporation bus tickets and IRCTC bus bookings. 

AbhiBus is owned and operated by ixigo (Le Travenues Technology Limited), India’s leading OTA for the Next Billion Users. With over 54 crore Annual Active Users in FY25, ixigo offers AI-powered train, flight, bus, and hotel bookings through its platforms - ixigo, ConfirmTkt, and AbhiBus.

We're looking for a Senior Technical Architect to own the technical direction of our platform across web and backend systems. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll set architecture standards, guide a team of 10–20 engineers, and run multiple concurrent initiatives without letting delivery timelines slip. You'll be expected to bring an AI-native mindset to how we build — using modern AI tooling to accelerate development, raise quality, and rethink how problems get solved.
What You'll Do

• Define and own the end-to-end technical architecture across frontend, backend, and infrastructure, balancing scalability, performance, and cost.
• Lead a team of 10-20 engineers across multiple parallel projects, ensuring each ships on time and at quality.
• Prioritize the technical roadmap against business needs — making clear trade-offs on what to build, defer, or drop, and communicating the reasoning to stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship: review designs, unblock engineers, set coding and review standards, and grow the team's capability.
• Drive an AI-native approach to engineering — integrating AI tooling into the SDLC (code generation, review, testing, documentation) and identifying where AI can improve the product itself.
• Partner with Product and Line of Business teams to translate requirements into sound, deliverable technical plans.
• Own project management discipline across teams: estimation, risk management, dependency tracking, and timeline ownership.
• Maintain engineering health — technical debt, system reliability, security, and observability.

Technical Stack & Expertise
A strong candidate must demonstrate depth across the full stack:
Backend & Services

• Strong server-side proficiency (Java / Node.js / Python / Go) and RESTful + event-driven service design.
• Microservices architecture, API gateways, and service-to-service communication patterns.

Data & Streaming

• Apache Kafka — event streaming, producers/consumers, partitioning, and stream processing at scale.
• Clickstream data pipelines — capturing, processing, and analyzing high-volume user-event data.
• MySQL (and relational data modeling, query optimization, indexing, replication) — plus exposure to NoSQL stores (Redis, MongoDB, Cassandra/DynamoDB).
• Data warehousing and analytics pipelines (e.g. ClickHouse, BigQuery, Snowflake, or equivalents).

Frontend

• Modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React / Angular / Vue) and responsive, performant UI architecture.

Cloud, Infra & DevOps

• Cloud platforms (AWS / GCP ), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Caching, CDN, load balancing, and high-availability design for high-traffic consumer systems.
• Observability and monitoring (logging, metrics, tracing, alerting).

AI-Native Tooling

• Hands-on use of AI-assisted development tooling across the SDLC, and a clear view on applying AI within the product.

What You Bring

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong full-stack foundation across modern web frameworks, backend services, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
• Proven track record architecting and delivering large-scale, high-traffic systems.
• Demonstrated experience leading teams of 10–20 engineers and running multiple projects simultaneously without compromising timelines.
• Strong prioritization instincts — able to align technical decisions with business outcomes and defend trade-offs.
• Hands-on fluency with AI-native development tooling and a clear point of view on applying AI across the engineering lifecycle.
• Excellent leadership, mentorship, and stakeholder-communication skills.
• Solid project management capability (Agile/Scrum or equivalent).

Nice to Have

• Experience in travel-tech, e-commerce, or high-scale consumer platforms.
• Experience setting up team-wide AI tooling, standards, or governance.
