General Summary
Assists with compliance requirements of federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding application of, filing of, and payment of taxes and licenses for over 80 Southern States Cooperative locations and over 30 Member Cooperative locations. Requires the ability to work independently, monitor filing requirements and meet deadlines for numerous locations in multiple states. Assists with data analysis using Microsoft Power BI.
Essential Job Functions
Prepare monthly sales and use tax filings as assigned
Prepare property tax returns using fixed asset software in accordance with state and local tax agencies
Leverage technology tools for tax integration and modeling
Process tax payments as assigned
Assist with the year-end patronage refund and income tax provision calculation for the Member Cooperatives
Promptly respond to various requests from operations, including sales tax exemption certificates
Prepare journal entries when needed and reconcile general ledger accounts as assigned
Assist with audit requests
Assist with technical research as needed
Participate in ad hoc projects, research and analysis as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
One to two years of tax experience preferred
CPA or CPA eligible preferred
Requirement
Strong Microsoft Excel skill
Ability to handle multiple tasks in conjunction with various tax filing deadline
Strong written and verbal communication skill
Ability to work independently and prioritize wor
Experience with Microsoft Power BI preferred
Work Environment
Job functions are performed in a hybrid office environment
Potential for limited travel to Southern States or Member Cooperative locations
