Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Advisor to partner with the business and provide tax support and advice to commercial operations for GHD’s domestic and international client projects. This role will also involve preparation of the EMEA income tax returns, tax provision calculations, managing ad hoc tax issues, and assisting with the Group’s Australian and PNG indirect tax compliance requirements (e.g. GST, FBT, etc)
Working with an energetic and high performing team, you will:
Assist with business partnering to support and identify business needs and provide commercial tax advice
Provide the business with tax support and advice with respect to proposed and ongoing international client projects, including assessing services provided by GHD to clients and relevant application of income tax treaties and tax legislations
Provide support for management of tax controversy, tax related audits/review and liaise/work with external advisors as required
Assist with management of tax risk and tax governance of the Group
Prepare the income tax provision and tax returns for EMEA
Assist with Australia and PNG indirect tax compliance (e.g. FBT, GST)
Provide guidance and advice on international tax developments, tax law changes and other emerging issues relating to each business and provide advice on impacts on a timely basis
Identify automation and process improvement opportunities and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement changes and streamline processes
To be successful in the role you will require:
Professional tax qualifications – CA/CPA equivalent
Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience, including at Big 4/mid-tier firms and/or similar roles in large multinational corporate tax environment or equivalent
Strong understanding of tax effect accounting as well as a broad range of tax topics including international tax issues, withholding tax and indirect taxes
Proven ability to work independently whilst demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to provide specialist consulting and advisory services to diverse stakeholder groups as whilst anticipating and supporting business needs
Strong communication skills with all levels in an organisation, in particular, the ability to communicate complex tax concepts in simple and commercially useful terms
