As a Software Engineer on the Infrastructure team, you will own the development and maintenance of the internal frameworks, tooling, web platform, and CI/CD pipelines that make test engineers productive. You will work at the intersection of software engineering and hardware validation — writing clean, maintainable Python, building full-stack web features, and keeping the infrastructure running reliably so that test teams can focus on what they do best.
This is a hands-on engineering role with real ownership. The codebase spans Python packages, a Django + DRF REST API backend, a ReactJS + TypeScript frontend, PostgreSQL databases, Celery task queues, Jenkins pipelines, and Docker-based deployments. You will contribute directly to all these layers.
- Maintain and evolve internal Python frameworks and packages (e.g., test automation libraries, instrument abstraction layers, database client packages, Jenkins integration clients) used by Test Development Engineers across cross-site teams
- Enforce and improve code quality standards — consistent style, clear abstractions, robust test coverage, and intuitive APIs that make downstream engineers more effective
- Triage and implement feature requests and bug fixes sourced from cross-site Test Development teams, translating requirements into clean, well-tested software solutions
- Own and improve CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Gradle, Docker-based builds) — build automation, package publishing to internal Artifactory, integration test suites, and release workflows
- Develop and maintain the full-stack web applications
- Write clean, idiomatic Python with attention to package management (Poetry / uv), dependency hygiene, and public API design
- Contribute to containerization and deployment workflows — writing Dockerfiles, managing multi-service Docker Compose configurations, and preparing for future Kubernetes-based orchestration
- Approach every task with an AI-first development mindset — leveraging modern AI tools for code generation, debugging, documentation, and productivity acceleration
- Collaborate with geographically distributed Software, ASIC, DSP, and Systems Engineering teams to understand platform requirements and deliver reliable tooling
- 2–5 years of experience in software engineering, backend development, or infrastructure engineering
- BE/BTech/ME/MTech/MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, or a related engineering discipline
- Expert-level Python knowledge — the primary language of the platform; includes understanding of packaging and library design.
Full-stack web development experience:
Backend: Django (preferred), FastAPI, or Flask; understanding of REST API design and DRF
Database: PostgreSQL (required); familiarity with SQL, ORM usage, migrations, and basic
Frontend: ReactJS (required); TypeScript experience is a strong plus; any modern FE framework background is acceptable — frontend experience is weighted but flexible
- Experience with Git version control and collaborative development workflows (pull requests, branching strategies, code review)
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools — Jenkins is what we use; experience with job configuration, Jenkinsfiles is a strong plus
- Comfort with containerization — Docker and Docker Compose for local development and production deployments; Kubernetes exposure is a meaningful added advantage
- Strong debugging skills and the ability to reason across multiple layers — from a Python package API down to a database query or a container networking issue
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, agile development environment with iterative releases, direct stakeholder feedback, and evolving requirements
Added Advantage
- Knowledge of Grafana, PowerBI, or any analytics and visualization platform
- Exposure to data engineering concepts, ETL workflows, or large-scale data movement
- Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, or container orchestration at scale
- Comfort working with internal package registries (e.g., Artifactory, PyPI mirrors)
- Genuine curiosity about new technologies and willingness to pick up unfamiliar tools quickly — this platform will grow, and the engineer who grows with it will thrive
MaxLinear is a global, NASDAQ-traded company (MXL) where the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well. We are a fabless system-on-chip product company, striving to improve the world’s communication networks for everyone through our highly integrated radio-frequency (RF), analog, digital, and mixed-signal semiconductor solutions for access and connectivity, wired and wireless infrastructure, and industrial and multi-market applications.
We hire the best people in the industry and engage them in some of the most exciting opportunities that connect the world we live in today. Our growth has come from innovative, bold approaches to solving some of the world’s most challenging communication technology problems in the most efficient and effective manner.
MaxLinear began by developing the world’s first high-performance TV tuner chip using standard CMOS process technology. Others said we couldn’t achieve the extremely high-performance requirements using CMOS, but we proved them wrong and achieved enduring global market leadership with our designs. Since then, we’ve developed a full line of products that drive 4G and 5G infrastructure; enable data center, metro and long-haul optical interconnects; bring 10Gbit to the home; power the IoT revolution; and enable robust and reliable communication in harsh industrial environments. Over the years, we’ve expanded through organic growth and through several acquisitions that have perfectly complemented our existing portfolio and enabled us to deliver complete end-to-end solutions in our target markets. One such example was the acquisition of Intel’s Home Gateway Platform Division that added Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and Broadband Gateway Processor SoC technology to our connected home portfolio creating a complete and scalable platform of connectivity and access solutions to fully address our customers’ needs.
Our headquarters are in Carlsbad, near San Diego, California. We also have major design centers in Irvine and San Jose, California; Valencia, Spain; Bangalore, India; Munich, Germany; Israel; and Singapore.
We have approximately 1,200 employees, a substantial majority of whom have engineering degrees and include masters and Ph.D. graduates from many of the premiere universities around the world. Our employees thrive on innovation, outstanding execution, outside-the-box thinking, nimbleness, and collaboration. Together, we form a high-energy business team that is focused on building the best and most innovative products on the market.
