The Opportunity

CACI is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to play a key role in shaping, building, and validating complex systems that support critical mission needs. You will collaborate closely with users, operational stakeholders, and development teams to translate ideas into actionable requirements and high‑quality solutions.  This role offers the chance to provide technical leadership, enhance engineering processes, and guide the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)—with a strong focus on system testing, validation, compliance, and integration. If you enjoy solving technical challenges, improving system performance, and working in a dynamic, mission-driven environment, this is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user needs, concepts of operation, and high‑level architectures to create clear, actionable system requirements.

  • Guide stakeholders in defining requirements, evaluating alternatives, and assessing feasibility.

  • Provide technical leadership for integrating requirements, design elements, and emerging technologies.

  • Support all phases of the SDLC, with emphasis on system testing, validation, and compliance activities.

  • Develop and maintain system engineering documentation, including system architecture and design artifacts.

  • Prepare or contribute to system engineering management plans, integration plans, and test strategies.

  • Coordinate requirements management, including breaking down work into actionable technical tasks.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to manage timelines and report progress toward technical goals.

  • Perform root cause analysis of production issues, such as outages, unexpected behavior, and performance bottlenecks.

  • Develop, update, and maintain standard operating procedures, system topologies, and best practices

  • Monitor system health using dashboards (e.g., Grafana) to identify performance trends and resource utilization issues.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph

  • 14+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.

    • An additional 5 years of systems engineering experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

  • Experience with Agile development processes

  • Strong focus on process, delivery, and high‑quality deployments

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or demonstrated experience leading Scrum ceremonies

  • Experience capturing, managing, and validating requirements with customers and development teams

  • Excellent communication skills—able to convey technical concepts clearly and collaborate across diverse teams

  • Experience with issue and backlog management tools, including sprint planning and producing artifacts such as burndown charts, roadmaps, and velocity metrics

  • Experience creating and maintaining documentation for system configurations, processes, and support procedures

Desired

  • Lean Six Sigma or similar process‑improvement certification

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, AWS, and microservice architectures
