APM Terminals Maasvlakte II (MVII) opened in 2015 and remains the world’s most advanced fully automated terminal. Equipped to handle the largest container ships way into the future. The use of green energy and fully electrified equipment made it the world’s first zero emission terminal for CO2, NOx and particles emissions. With fully fenced-off automated areas, separating men and machines, it is also one of the safest terminals around the world. Around 80% of crane movements are automated, with the remaining manual operations being performed remotely. More than 500 employees are employed within the organization, enabling the fully automated discharging and loading of the largest container vessels in the world.
Currently APMT Maasvlakte II is going through a big technical transformation and expansion. The optimization team is continuously working on new developments to secure and improve the productivity of the terminal while expanding the terminal at same time. For this optimization team we are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer.
Function description:
As a Terminal Engineer you are responsible for managing and optimizing our business-critical applications that contribute to the smooth running of our logistics processes. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the applications meet the requirements of the terminal and its customers. Based on your own field, you can not only work in detail, but also think along company-wide. You are strongly focused on improving and optimizing the logistics processes.
The core tasks of the Terminal Engineer include:
• Managing and maintaining business-critical applications such as Camco, TEAMS, SecureLogistics, RTO, Portbase, Ortec.
• You act as 2nd line support for the further investigation of incidents and problems that are reported directly from our business.
• You (jointly) implement changes to the business-critical applications.
• Initiating and coordinating (small) process and IT application improvements.
• Proactively identifying and solving any technical problems.
• Drawing up functional and technical designs in coordination with suppliers and the business.
• Drawing up test scenarios to implement new functionalities in our production environment.
• Update and maintain documentation for application configurations and procedures.
• Maintains short lines of communication with other tech teams both locally at the terminal and across the other Maersk groups.
What do you take?
• A completed Bachelor in the field of (business) computer science.
• At least five years of relevant work experience within IT in managing business applications, preferably within the logistics or transport sector.
• Knowledge of SQL, ITSM is a must
• Skills in programming is a plus.
• Experience with working in the scrum/agile way of working is a plus.
• Knowledge of and experience with applications used in container terminals is an advantage;

• Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
• Good communication skills and a service-oriented attitude, both in Dutch and English.
