As a Senior Systems Engineer, Microsoft 365, you'll play a key role in engineering and modernizing our enterprise M365 environment. You'll take ownership of critical Microsoft 365 services while helping drive improvements across security, governance, automation, and emerging AI capabilities, including Microsoft Copilot.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Engineer and Modernize Our Microsoft 365 Platform

Take ownership of core Microsoft 365 services and help shape how our enterprise collaboration and productivity environment evolves.

• Design, implement, manage, and continuously improve Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Power Platform.

• Engineer solutions that improve platform performance, reliability, scalability, security, and the employee experience.

• Drive modernization initiatives across M365 architecture, security, governance, and service delivery.

• Evaluate and introduce new Microsoft 365 capabilities, including emerging AI and Microsoft Copilot technologies, where they can deliver meaningful business value.

• Challenge existing processes and technical approaches, identifying opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve the environment.

• Contribute to platform strategy, technical roadmaps, and engineering standards that support long-term scalability and continuous improvement.

Build Smarter Solutions Through Automation & Engineering

Help transform how we manage and operate Microsoft 365 by reducing manual effort and applying modern engineering practices.

• Design and implement automation that simplifies administration, improves consistency, and reduces repetitive operational tasks.

• Leverage Microsoft Graph API, Terraform, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code practices to automate configurations, deployments, and platform management.

• Develop reusable engineering solutions, standardized processes, and technical improvements that increase operational efficiency.

• Identify opportunities to use AI and emerging technologies to improve platform management, service delivery, and employee productivity.

• Continuously evaluate new tools, capabilities, and engineering approaches that can improve scalability, reliability, and performance.

Strengthen Security, Identity & Governance

Help ensure our Microsoft 365 environment remains secure, resilient, and aligned with enterprise standards.

• Engineer and maintain secure Microsoft 365 configurations in accordance with enterprise security policies and governance requirements.

• Support identity and access capabilities, including Microsoft Entra ID, federation services, and related security controls.

• Partner with security and infrastructure teams to proactively identify, assess, and remediate platform vulnerabilities and risks.

• Support Microsoft Intune, endpoint management, and related security capabilities.

• Contribute to secure messaging and email protection through technologies such as Proofpoint.

• Strengthen platform governance, compliance, configuration management, and operational resilience.

• Help establish appropriate security and governance practices as new Microsoft 365 and AI-enabled capabilities are introduced.

Own Platform Reliability & Solve Complex Technical Challenges

Bring a strong engineering mindset to operational excellence, ensuring our critical collaboration services remain reliable and secure.

• Serve as a senior technical escalation point for complex M365 issues, outages, and service disruptions.

• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of platform issues within established service levels.

• Identify recurring problems and implement sustainable engineering solutions that prevent future incidents.

• Monitor platform health, performance, availability, and security, proactively addressing potential risks.

• Participate in incident management, change control, and operational processes that support service stability.

• Develop and maintain operational procedures, technical documentation, and engineering best practices.

• Participate in after-hours and on-call support as needed to maintain critical enterprise services.

Collaborate, Influence & Deliver Meaningful Improvements

Work across technology teams to turn technical capabilities into solutions that make a difference.

• Partner with Identity and Workforce Technologies, Infrastructure, Security, IT Operations, and business teams to understand needs and deliver effective solutions.

• Lead or contribute to medium- and large-scale M365 projects, from technical planning and design through implementation and operational readiness.

• Develop and execute project plans, coordinate technical activities, and drive initiatives to successful completion.

• Communicate technical recommendations, project progress, risks, and operational issues clearly to stakeholders and IT leadership.

• Develop platform metrics, reporting, and documentation that demonstrate performance, reliability, operational improvements, and business value.

• Share technical expertise, support knowledge transfer, and help drive adoption and effective use of M365 capabilities.

WHAT YOU BRING

We're looking for a technically strong engineer who combines deep Microsoft 365 expertise with curiosity, initiative, and a passion for building better solutions.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, cloud engineering, or related technology roles.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience engineering, administering, and supporting Microsoft 365 in an enterprise environment.

• Strong technical experience with core Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.

• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, identity and access management, and cloud security fundamentals.

• Experience with Microsoft Intune and endpoint management technologies.

• Experience with email security technologies, including Proofpoint or comparable solutions.

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Graph API, Terraform, scripting, or related automation and infrastructure-as-code technologies.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including experience resolving complex production issues and conducting root cause analysis.

• Understanding of enterprise cloud infrastructure, identity and federation services, security, governance, and operational best practices.

• Experience contributing to technical projects and working collaboratively across engineering and technology teams.

• Strong communication skills, technical judgment, and the ability to work independently while taking ownership of results.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform and workflow automation.

• Experience implementing infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, or automated platform administration.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, AI-enabled productivity tools, or emerging Microsoft 365 capabilities.

• Experience improving M365 security, governance, compliance, or platform architecture.

• Experience supporting Microsoft 365 in a large, complex, or global enterprise environment.

• Programming or advanced scripting experience.

• Familiarity with Unix or Linux systems concepts.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience in media, entertainment, or another technology-intensive industry.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $120,800-$150,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
