Position Summary
The Systems Engineer II (Senior Level) will join the systems engineering team to coordinate novel, reliable, and high-quality designs for Trenton System’s next-generation products, including high end server chassis design, edge-compute form-factors in rugged environments, and cutting-edge designs for some of the industry’s most demanding requirements. Typical duties include reviewing customer requirements, suggesting solutions, coordinating product integration, delivery and author design documentation. This role will work at the direction and supervision of the Mechanical Engineering Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, conceptualize, and create design architecture against requirements
- Manage and maintain customer requirements, system requirements, and traceability
- Evaluate alternatives and support make/buy decisions
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team of electrical, mechanical, software, and test engineers and participate with teams in design reviews.
- Create design output documentation (i.e. SDRLS, White Papers, BOMS, etc.) as necessary and review for completeness
- Identify and manage risk in products, processes, and environment.
- Support Trenton’s system level DFM, addressing compatibility & interoperability with technology, industry, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure full traceability to verification and validations plans and reports
- Assist Project and Engineering Managers with requirement clarifications, managing scope creep, and developing contingency plans

Requirements
Required
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field (e.g. Aerospace, Manufacturing, MET)
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in engineering design capacity OR
- 5+ years of technical experience
- Knowledge of computer hardware & embedded systems architecture
- Familiarity with MRP or similar (Eng Change Orders/ Production processes)
- Familiarity with engineering analysis
Desired
- Masters degree in related Engineering field
- 3-5+ Years of Embedded Systems Engineering
- VITA / VPX Experience
- Selects/works with the processor, MCU, GPU
- Hardware interfaces such as SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, etc.
- Fans, sensors, power sequencing, LEDs, monitoring, etc.
- Hardware/software interaction.
Skills Required

- VITA or VPX experience

- Experience with fans, sensors, power sequencing, LEDs, and monitoring systems
- Experience with hardware and software interaction
